Who do you trust with your dog?

Who do you trust with your dog when you aren't there? I may be over protective but i'd rather be to careful than careless. I trust my mum with all aspects of Roxies care, as i still live at home, mum knows her really well (obviously), and she is also Roxies alpha. I also trust my Grandad with her, he visits 1 a week and Roxie adores him, and follows all his commands. I trust him to take her a walk, because of the adoration and he has also owned a GSD so he can handle large dogs. My fiance Gav, i also trust with her but only indoors, i don't think he understands fully, how to handle her on her walks. He only see's Roxie a few times a month, if that, so i don't know whether she'd respect his commands.
Thats the only people who have my full trust. Anybody else, they are allowed to interact with her, but i have to be in the same room. If i have friends in, and have to go to the bathroom, Roxie comes with me.
If my brother (8 y/o) has friends in, the livingroom door gets blocked, so they can't run in unexpected. She is fine with people, and is allowed to meet adults, but is muzzled when meeting children..just incase. I know how fast accidents happen, and where i live there is some Rottweiler bias, so i'd rather be safe than sorry and protect my dog.

I know this is a long rambling post, to be honest i'm not sure where it came from, it just really irks me when people say '' my dog did this and i didn't even notice'' or something similar.
So, my question is, who do you trust with your dog?

My son and my trainer. I would only feel comfortable leaving them in their hands.

My BF Gregory. He's actually the only person I trust with anything. He owns an Akita and that dog is never out of his control. Nobody else I know even really likes dogs.....

I trust my mom completely with Frau (only now cause she's trained though, I wouldn't have when she was a puppy). Not that she'd hurt her or let anything bad happen to her, she's just the QUEEN of playing with puppies in a way to teach them BAD BAD habits. I trust 2 of my 3 brothers with her. Rob is the most laid-back person ever and if he can have infinate patience with his spaz of a JR/lab puppy then he can deal with Frau. I am a carbon copy of my brother Greg, so I know he'd be great with Frau. Mike, no. He hates dogs. He'd lock her in a cage and never let her out.
My husband is great with her... but not so much with the training. He loves her to peices but he's not involved with obedience or anything. Motorcycles are his thing, pets are mine. I feed/water/walk/train and play with Frau. He plays with her and sucks her up amd will feed her if i ask. But ONLY if I ask. And YES, he is Alpha over her. Everyone's Alpha over her, she likes it that way.

That's it. Generally when I don't trust people with her it's not becuase I'm afraid of them beating her or her gettign out and running (she doesn't run away) it's becuase I don't want them to teach her bad habits or let her get away with behavior she's not allowed too (like pushing through doors, getting on furniture, running inside, not heeling on lead, etc.)

My cousin. She knows him well enough that I feel she can handle him appropriately.

I used to trust my pet sitter until one or two incidents that made me think better of it.

But thats about it. He is too particular about strangers (which is almost everyone but myself and my cousin I've found) trying to hug him or stick their face in his etc. The risk is just not worth it. Although, if it came down to it, I would trust my trainer and people like Judi W or lbax in terms of knowing how to handle my dog properly.

If I'm not home- dayto day basis

Hubby, Rob and step daughter, Stacia are capable of letting them out to potty or feed them in a pinch. But if I'm not home the dogs are never ever loose in the house and are not allowed to be taken for walks or rides and certainly not allowed to mingle with people other than the above two

If I am hospitalized, dead or whatever then the above two, plus Gretchen (Bostonrott) and my friend Tammy (Rottnanny) are the ONLY people I'd want physically handling the Rottweilers. My friend Claudia is capable of handling Bea and the shibas only (she used to come let out the elderly crowd-Angelica, Loki, Molly, Apollo- for me a few years ago, but they are all dead now). And anyone on Earth can handle my Shibas and cats. My former boss could handle most, if not all of them toobut she's in S Africa now :( My Mom "could" handle them, the dogs would let her but she does not think she can

4 people plus myvets and my lockbox have my dog will which outlines what to do with the dogs if I die and/or what my limits are for medical care in case of an emergency and I'm away. It also says who can handle the dogs (ie: not get eaten by a couple)

The Shibas (and my sister's forever here dalmation) are easy easy, Bea and Bill are fairly easy if you can read dog well and are not a bully, Tune, Elisha and Haily are difficult for some, impossible for others and exceedingly easy for a few

Nobody really...I have let my MIL babysit when we go on vacation and she does an excellent job but she isn't what I would call a doggie person.
Last vacation I had my sister care for the dogs and when I got home she commented on how well Fanci is doing. She went on to explain that my dog loved the kids up and she let them "crawl" all over her while she ate!
I almost died!

I trust Doug, my sisters, my friends in rescue, a few folks I train with (who know rotties), and myself.

In a pinch my inlaws can be trusted to at least feed the dogs and take them out for potty, and have authority to take them to the vet in an emergency - but they really don't do anything else for them (although if it was my BIL and his wife and their dog the inlaws would jump the MOON for them - but that's another thread )

Thats it...small list - just the way I like it.

My husband..that's about it. When we lived down South we had fantastic neighbors we could trust 100%, and it went both ways..they watched ours, we watched theirs.

I have had the inlaws watch the dogs and its caused me nothing but stress. They didn't let them out when they were supposed to, when Bruno was alive he needed medications 2x a day, while they were administered they weren't administered at the proper times. The dogs are usually fed too much and way off schedule. I guess there are worse things..they do an OK job, but it's not up to my standard.

Ryan & our trainer.

That's it. Julius adores my mom & I would have her come by in a pinch. Even though I know that Julius would probably be fine with her, I wouldn't want to chance it. There are just too many things that could happen.

Naturally my husband. The dog walker I have known for 8 years to do drop in visits, but I would never let her take the dogs. Judy at the ranch where we do herding. The dogs think of her as a god because she owns the sheep. She does occasional boarding of dogs she knows (like mine). Then there is Dani, she has a small commercial kennel in the middle of a 5,000 acre cattle ranch. She also does pitbull rescue. A few club members also.
Anyone can handle Duncan as long as they supply him with food. Cipher is just 5 months so she is fine right now. Fizbin is sweet, but he is a high drive, thinking, male that would take advantage of a person. I can see the same for Cipher when she is older.

Logan and the girls are so good natured that probably anyone could handle them, but either our friend Matt stays at the house with them - no walks, just backyard time, or they stay at his house - again no walks. The few times he was not available to watch all of them he was at least able to watch Jack. Logan often stays with Nick and Judi (Fezzicks owners) they have gone to training with us and their dog since they were just wee pups

For short term such as playing in the courtyard, hanging out a bit, going for a walk etc. there are a few dog savvy residents in the dorm. They have large dogs at home and one guy is especially good. I actually feel more comfortable with these kids than most of my friends.

Long term, if I was traveling: Richard's owner or the dog walker that serviced their condo. Eileen is amazing with dogs. No bigger than a whisper but dogs know who is boss with Eileen
