Just over 8 years ago DH and I started datiing. He had a one year old Rottie pup, and I had four small kids. I had only heard the 'bad' stuff about Rott's, and was apprehensive at first. Well, the kids loved Veg, and he loved us...DH says (only half joking) that I'm lucky his dog liked us. Anyway, of course my family was up in arms...both sets of grandparents, my ex-husband...everyone "talked trash". Veg is a good dog, and not only did everyone change their opinion of him, at a family dinner the other night, I overheard my stepmother telling her family how great our dogs are, and how gentle Veg is around the kids, etc.

Point is, these dogs have a bad rap, and it's almost always due to irresponsible ownership. If you do right by your dog, your dog will do right by you. Stand up for her, and prove them wrong.

Agreed Judi; If you have faith in your puppy and his/her ability to learn, be obedient, loving and prove every member of your family & all other BSL supporters wrong then you should keep her/him and show them what a responsible owners rottweiler acts like. .......... However if you are having doubts now; I think you will always have doubts and then find yourself distrusting and unsure of your own dog. The seed of doubt has been planted now and I don't know how well you will do. I just feel like if you read before you got the pup and read afterwards and are still reading every rottie book and talking to every rottie owner (which should be on here) then these comments from your family should not have even phased you, because you would have been confident knowing what to expect out of the breed. But since it has I am afraid that your faith and trust in you dogs teperment has dwindled before it was properly built, you may want to consider giving her to an experienced rottie owner.
If you decide to keep her, train her, love her, socialize her and prove everyone wrong! don't let anyone P*SS on you and your Doggies parade!
