OFA x-ray cost

How much did/do you guys pay for your OFA x-rays??? We just had Bastian's done and I felt that it was a little pricey. They did do the sedation in order to get good shots as well. I'm just curious, if it was high I'll try to shop around before little Tessa is ready for them.

at my job, we charge for the xrays and i usually try to do them awake...about $90 plus the $30 for ofa cert.
if needs sedation, it can run about $180 or so.
but, i hear most people paid in the $150-200 range.

Ok, so to add to my question...what is the necessity of the Reversal for the sedation?? I've never known that they did that to my pets, but they did this time. I paid $250 for the X-rays and ofa cert.

depends on what sedation was used...
if they used, dormidor, they will use antisedan to reverse.
if they used certain types of anesthesia, they can reverse or just wait
for the dog to get up.some are very quick some are not so quick.
if they used general anesthesia/gas,that can increase the price.
if all they used was a valium shot,it might be less.
all that plays the part...it just depends what your vet feels comfortable with.
but yes, i also know people that have paid in that area for ofa with complete sedation.
the main thing, your dog is ok, and the xrays get properly done.

It depends!

I didn't want Parker sedated. We were in an obedience trial the next day. My vet is GREAT, knew that I had assisted in thousands of xrays before and let me help. Parker was great, although he did pee on the table.

The xrays were around $170 Canadian. Yes, we did both hips and elbows.

The OFA rates are extra - on top of your vet fees. You can find their rates here:

We pay just around $300 for hips and elbows with anesthesia. Too high in my opinion, but it's the only ortho vet we will use for the x-rays. Our local "country" vets just don't do enough of them to have the exact placement down correctly. We also have to travel about 60 miles to get to this vet.

Sedated x-rays of hips and elbows in the DC metro area run about $300. This doesn't include any additional OFA fees.
