| She is skinny but not a walking rack of bones. I saw the tails but wondered, thank you for explaining that. So if she is only 8 weeks old then she was taken from mom really early as she was adopted and returned to the shelter before I got her. Can you belive that someone adopted her and didnt want her? They said she peed on the rug and chewed on things. She seems to know the word NO very well. She is sweet but all and all (and poor you guys should know as I have been crying on your shoulder) she is still a puppy. She loves to play and slept almost 5 hours last night ;) Other than sitting and down should I not ask too much from her right now? |

I would think the Vet could look at her teeth and get close to guestimating a correct age. She is a QT - I wish you well with her

OMG, a 9 week old puppy that pees and chews? Never heard of that... I'm glad that she was returned by these idiots and not banished to some horrible outdoor situation for the rest of her life! People that stupid should not have been allowed to adopt a dog in the first place! ![]()

| I am also glad she was returned. She LOVES to play tug with her new toy. I got her what looks like a long dog about 18inches long. The head has a squeeker and the tail end has something that sounds like a duck call in it. She also loves a scrap of fur that I had for making dreamcatchers with. She even fetched :) mind you it was only once but she did it with gusto. I am very lucky that I got her. She will follow me when she is on the leash (when ever we go out she is on the leash). She has a bright future as she is going to be my mobility assistant dog and hopefully I can also teach her to alert me to my asthma attacks. This way she will always be with me. The thing that I think most people forget when they see puppies is that it is not all play. It is getting up in the middle of the night, it is the pee on the carpet, the moments we say to ourselfs why did I want this little monster? Can any of you remember saying that to yourself? BTW I have a little cat toy that looks like a ball with a bell in it. Should I not let her play with, I mean can she distroy it and swollow the bell? I am not sure it is puppy proof. One more thing. She has a harness on (for easy grabbing whens he starts to pee on the floor or grab something she is not supposed to, also to position her so I can lower her out onto the ground as I dont want her jumping down 3 steps from the house, or the other thousand things you need to hang on to a puppy for) How often should I take it off of her? | You can start working on her house breaking and crate training. At this age, she's a blank slate and she sounds very willing to learn and to please, which is wonderful for you! ![]() There are several threads on here about both topics, if you use the search function, you should be able to find them. Crate training is a wonderful tool to keep her out of trouble when you can't be right with her (i.e. you need a shower, go to the bathroom, cook a meal, etc). It's not unusual for unscrupulous "breeders" to send puppies home anywhere from 4-6wks of age, which as you already said is WAY too young. Many people working at shelters have little true dog knowledge, so when someone walks in and says this is an X old puppy, they just put that down and accept it. You may want to search around for puppy kindergarten classes also, as she should be old enough to start those ASAP. They'll be great for socializing her and teaching you about training a dog, and starting to build that wonderful bond between you. ![]() Yogi, thanks! He's still a pup, only 10mos, but his body often belies that fact. ![]()

| She's cute!!!! She looks a little like my GSD/Lab/Rottie mix did at the same age. She's not a full-bred Rottie. GSD/Rottie is my best guess. My dogs page: www.durnilphoto.com/wif.html . The big one is my GSD mix & the pup is a rotten rottie. |

| Oh my I do hope she is not that young!! I do know she is horribley infested with worms. She has been wormed at least once a few days ago (when she went to my vets) and I am going to ask if she needs another dose when she gets her second set of shots. Every time she poops you can see them all over in her bm. Her cough is much better. She has only coughed a little bit today. :) She seems a bit tired but has done a lot today. You know how hard it is to play, eat, and poo ;) |

| SHe is very very cute! My rottie (and we think) shepherd mix takes more to the rottie side than the shepherd. I wish you tons of luck with her it sounds like you are both having a ball!! |

| She sure IS ADORABLE! She looks a lot like a GSD. I've had them for years. Their coloring can be this similar, too. Tho it's more usual to have a mix of grey with the tan, or silver. Rottweiler pups? Lots of puppy pics to choose from: www.picturetrail.com/lmcna ![]()
