And are you looking for a wire crate that folds up or a solid crate? What type of crate you get depends on if you will ever be flying your dog (required the solid crate such as the vari-kennel). There are many types of crates. You can find many by doing a Google search for dog crates.

www.petedge.com and many other online places have them. You would save on shipping if you can find a dog show near you and pick one up there.

As stated, we would need to know the size of your dog in order to supply info about what size of crate he/she would need.

My dog is just a pup right now so overall size....I dont know. I am just looking for something that will support him till adulthood. As far as folding, it doesnt matter, its just for house use.

Thanks again!

For a male rottweiler I would suggest a "500" size crate. These are usually 42" long. For wire crates I like General Cage brand. They have spring loaded latches. General Cage crates was the first wire crate I bought about 8 years ago. I have bought 6 other wire crates since then from different manufactures and I don't have them anymore. My dogs are not bad in the crate, but they have not held up as well and the latches don't stay closed without additional clips. I still have my original General Cage wire crates.
Midwest makes a decently constructed crate, but I don't like their slide latches. A dog can bang enough to move the latch and a real clever dog can then work it out.

crate for a Rott

I have a steel dog crate in my kitchen which is 47" long, 29" wide and 34" High. I think you should have a crate that is large enough for the dog to move around in and be able to stand up straight in. I also have a soft tent crate that folds up that I take on my trips out of state or when I visit someone and sleep over.
You need a strong crate for a Rott. The Rott I had before this one would not stay in a crate, and even with two padlocks on the door was able to escape from the crate. She did that three times. We had to see if she broke the crate, but no, the locks were still on the crate door, but the door was a little bent. We then tried putting her in a bathroom with the door closed, when we went out, but when we returned, she had eaten the frame of the bathroom door and had gotten out of that too. We had to hire a carpenter and rebuild the door frame and door. We had to eventually let her sleep on a dog mattress on the floor in the living room by the front door, that she kept a close eye on all the time after that. The steel crate is also open so it provides air flow through the crate on a hot day. In the winter, I toss a throw over it for more warmth and privacy.
I got the steel crate at Petco and I think I got the folding tent crate on Ebay.

I bought my crate off of Ebay. It is a Midwest 48DD which is 48'' long and has two doors, one on the end and one on the side so you can put you crate whichever way you want. It also came with a divider panel so that I could section it off to her size for potty training. I love it, she loves it, the slide out pan is a breeze to clean and I don't think that she could shake it enough to open the double slide latches that are on each door. It was about $80.00 with shipping and handeling brand new in the box. It also folds down and has snap on handles in case you ever DO have to move it.

Our crate came from Tractor Supply Company I belive it is a PetMate?? It is a solid plastic crate in X-LArge it works great for my male Zeke. I don't like the wire ones because all the one I have owned my dogs can bend or excape out of (one very clever cattle dog) They are nicer then the plastic crates for travel though!!!
