Wink weight

Hi Everyone,
I'm new to this Rottweiler site. I've got a 10 month old male Rottweiler called Bruno. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what the average weight is for his age or if anyone knows where i could find a weight chart, i weighed him the other day and he weights 5 half stone. He is a decent size and a very active lil boy! If anyone could help i would be greatful.
Gemma.

5 and half stone should be about 99 pounds which is a fairly high weight for that age although not outrageous

According to my calculator 5.5 stone = 77 lbs.pound = 34.9 Kilograms.

Either way, rotties really aren't meant for weight pulling, although that's not to say they can't, there are just better breeds out there for it. Even so, you do not want to put too much stress on the joints at such a young age. You should wait till he is around 2 years old in order to give him a chance to fully develope and mature.

it really does vary, depending on bone structure. do you know what the parents weighed, that is a good weigh of measuring.....

We have a 7 month old Rotti weighing 74 pounds. The vet said Rotti's due the bulk of their growth up until 6 months. On the contray, the breeders and owners of Rott's I talked to said they grow height until 1 year and bone/muscle mass until 2 years. I have not been able to find a clear cu answer. We adopted him so we have no idea of his parents size. Would somone be so kind to help us??

A basic rule of thumb is that when looking down from above, you should see a waist on him, and when looking at him from the side, he should have a slight tuck-up in his loin area. As well, you should be able to feel his ribs easily without having to push on his skin.

For the most part there is no "clear cut" answer it all depends on genetics and they can vary within the breed sometimes radically. In my opinion 74 lbs seems like an awful lot of weight to carry on a immature frame, but hey what do I know? I like to follow the adage "slow and steady wins the race."
