| Seat belt recommendations Can those of you that use the seat belt restraints provide what kind you are using and/or which one you like the best. Also, how much room does it give to allow the dog to move around a bit? Is it easy to use? For some reason Hercules has now taken it upon himself to sit in the front passenger seat all of the time. Never used to do it before - he would always go and lay down in back where I put all the seats down to make a cargo section in my SUV. But apparently something has changed where this will no longer suffice! Now I am worried if I have to stop short he'll hit the windshield.I'd appreciate hearing any recommendations from all of you using one of these items.

| I use a regular harness, with a seatbelt attachment. If you feel that is not long enough, you can use the attachment on the Dog Control Leash. https://secure.highspeedweb.net/~ldc...tbeltleash.htm Here's the attachment style I use, its the one that buckles into the female part of the seatbelt. http://www.hagen.com/canada/english/...07799820010101 I don't like the harnesses that slide through the strap of the seat belt, my dog would want to chew it.

| I use the regular travel harness and the seat belt attachment as above. Rocco has range of the back seat (small car), but I could shorten it enough that he had less room (almost stationary). I believe I ordered both from Petsmart or Petco. I also had a harness for Perle but since she sat in the passenger seat I just attached her harness directly to the seatbelt. |

| I have one from Guardian Gear the buckles directly into the seat belt. Works petty well for us. Keeps dog within the seat to answer the range of motion question.

| Hi Sue. Again I think Herc and Cyrus are littermates! I use the harness with the seat belt attachment too. It gives him enough space to move around a bit but keeps him safely in the back seat where he belongs! Actually the seat belt went a long way in helping to train him to be a good boy in the car in general.

| I use a specifically designed seat belt for my small dog.....http://www.canineauto.com the larger dogs go into crates. Also, be careful if your dog is sitting in the front seat even with a belt if you have air bags!! Depending on how you dog sits the air bag, if it were to go off may cause injury.

| Daisy's harness that attaches to the seat belt is from PetsMart. It cost about $20, and the size "large" has fit her from 45 pounds all the way up to almost 90 pounds. She is only allowed to ride in the back seat because of the airbag in front. I can control the slack by tightening the seatbelt itself. She loves to ride and does a wiggle dance when I show her the car keys and her car harness. I never ride with her unsecured.

| We use the Ruffrider Roadie. It's nice for hiking as well, as you can get attatchments for a water bottle, bowl etc. www.fancypaws.com/moravia/rufroadcanve.html You can read for yourself about the saftey testing. It adjusts to 3 comfort settings to allow the dog some freedom sitting, laying, or able to move about a bit. Maybe a closer setting where the dog has to lie down if you have a chewer? Mine don't bother with it.Also, If you like him way in the back, scroll down on the site. There's a locking carabineer to attatch, where you don't have a seatbelt.

We use this brand for Zeiss, it has a fuzzy protective layer for the side of the seatbelt that lays against the dog, looks more comfortable to me than some others. I have a small car, but he can sit or laydown with the seatbelt on, It also acts as a harness and has a leash attached which comes in handy. EDIT: I have pictures of Zeiss wearing his Roadie in the picture area, under a heading that starts with Zoom , Zeiss at INDY 500 or something like that |

| Thanks for your input everyone. I will do some searching on these products tonight and get something ordered, I really like all the accessories for the Ruff rider. I forgot about the air bags too, I'll have to keep that in mind and see if I can move the seat back a bit further. My car is fairly small in the front so I don't know why he thinks it's even comfortable to sit up there for a 40 minute ride to training etc. Just one of his new found habits I suppose. The back seats are even smaller I think, but usually I put them all down so he can lay down back in the cargo section. This is the same dog I could get to come up in the front seat when I first adopted him and he had noooo car legs. He would automatically just lay down in the back and a few times he wound up on the floor from a quick stop. And here we are a year later........go figure!
