Peeing inside after boarding...

We had two accidents yesterday after we picked Doc up from boarding. That's the first time in a month or more!

He has to go back tommorow for two more days.

Has anyone else had this happen? We paid for 2 walks a day. I realize that he will go in his run (which is inside concrete) since that is not nearly as often as he usally goes out, but at $3.00 each I really cannot afford many more, as it was 2 days of boarding (with walks and giving medication) was $68.

Thanks.

The first time Logan stayed at a friends house instead of our house while we were away he peed in our house when he came back. My friends said he had no accidents while he stayed with them. He was 9 months old at the time. I redid the housebreaking principles after that and haven't had a problem since. It's almost like they want to see if the same rules apply after being away.

We caught him the second time! My DF yelled "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" He ran to the door (the dog) with his tail between his legs. Hopefully he decided his "test" was unsuccessful, guess we'll know tonight....

Thanks.
personally i would never board my dog anywhere that didnt have inside and outside runs at our clubs boarding facility each inside area for sleeping and eating is about 5 x 8 with a door to the outside run 6 x 10 and then are locked down at night inside ours charges 10.00 a night you bring the food and medications. i would when you have time look for a differant boarding facility that has these types of accomadations and do not pay for any walks your dog will get enough stimulation at a kennel with a 6 x 10 area ...

I manage a boarding facility, and have worked at another for several years now.

Both facilities have indoor climate controlled runs, but the dogs are taken out to individual yards at least 3 x per day, and allowed to air out and romp around. Is this time consuming? Yes. It's also called quality care.

They stay outside for as long as they want, weather permitting, under supervision, as it's much less stressful than being cooped up in a kennel 24/7.

We do not charge extra for taking the dogs out, and if certain dogs need a little extra TLC to alleviate unnecessary stress, it's done. We attempt to maintain a regular schedule with the dogs so that transition into the kennel, and back home again is easy for the animals.

Charging an additional fee for performing a task that should be included as part of a service provided is preposterous, IMO.

Is this the only boarding facility in your area?

Wow!!!!!!! I also am a bit put off by a facility that would charge you for walks....... I'm sure Doc will get back into the swing of things but I too, would most defiantly be looking for new boarding for next time....

I dont ever board my dogs but the going rate here seems to be about 15 a day for everything.

Well, have to agree. Poor dog was put in a position where he had no choice but to go potty indoors so that is what he learned to do. And yes, relieving themselves is part of boarding. It is not limited to food and shelter. Was this at a vets?

No No. I am sorry to have mislead.

We paid for 2 WALKS. On a leash with a staff member. He was also let out 3 times a day into the run to play and romp for 15 minutes. He will not typically go potty off leash. If he is running around and has to go he will either hold it or look embarised when he does go, although we have never corrected him for this we think his first owners potty trained him WAY to harshly and he is very inhibited. He also would pee on concrete when we first got him as he was chained in a parking lot! (MAD!) So we paid for leash walks.

This place is at our vets, they have a bueatiful clean and proffessional faciality. I really think the problem is Docs and not theirs. Going outside 5 times (3 romp times and 2 walks) should be enough. After the two times he did not do it again so I think he was testing his boundries.
