| **Permission to Crosspost Widely** Ontario Travel Alert Erroneous Concerned Dog Enthusiasts: A recent “Alert” was received by a large number of people. Within, it recommended that people do not travel to Ontario, due to Bill 132. There were many misconceptions and embellishments that must be made clear: · Bill 132 is NOT law in Ontario. As you will find in the attached Toronto (Ontario) Animal Services Statement: “The date that the new Act comes into power has yet to be determined.” · It is not anticipated to until later this year, possibly until the late Summer or early Autumn. Of course, you will all have AMPLE notice from your concerned Ontario Dog Enthusiast Community. · The phrase “Seizure of a tourist's dog is probable, not just possible.” Is a fabrication. Again – refer to the attached document and read the verbiage of the actual bill itself. · Well-behaved dogs, going to Canine Event Venues and under control by the responsible owners are NOT the targets of this bill. · Conformation events for other breeds will have a requirement of registration, and therefore parentage. Bill 132 is a poorly written bill and is going to be Constitutionally challenged in the courts by noted Lawyer Clayton Ruby. The fight against this bill is nowhere near over. To support this legal action, please give generously to www.bannedaid.com and support the “RCCBSL 2nd Annual Spring Into Action Against BSL Auction”, to be hosted on www.Ebay.com over April (just search for RCCBSL). Ontario IS SAFE to travel to with your dogs. We need to be PROACTIVE and protect our breeds WHILE we're fighting to take those currently banned off of the list as well. Perception is reality. So if the public suddenly sees us all diving for cover, not supporting our own respective breeds – it will be interpreted as our acknowledgement of their potential ‘danger’ to the public. We need to: · Enter dog shows with impressive representatives of our breeds · Enter obedience trials with talented dogs · Enter temperament tests (TT, CGN) to prove our breeds’ stability · Register our dogs as therapy dogs to prove their kindness and NEED in our society for them · Participate in parades and public functions where people can see our dogs in a positive light · Enroll our dogs in blood donor programs where our dogs can help other dogs and change minds Yes - we need to do all of the above and MORE here in Ontario. We need to fight for our dogs. We need to show the WORLD what we're made of. So I ask that before you cross the border you fill your gas tanks, pack your coolers, have your dog food and bring your campers. Keep as many of your tourism dollars in your pockets as possible. But please BRING YOUR WONDERFUL DOGS! Our breeds need you in Ontario.
