Baby diapers for bitches in heat?

Has anyone ever tried baby diapers? Someone suggested this to me when we were discussing what I did with my girls when they come in season. I have always used the "doggie panties"

Also do you keep the panties on or off when in their crates ?

I've never used either. A bitch should learn to keep herself clean, IMHO. Besides, they'd probably both have eaten them if they were made to wera them.

Whatever you decide, I definately would leave them off in the crate. What would be the purpose? It's a wipe-n-go surface.

Re: Baby diapers for bitches in heat?

I use the doggy panties and take them off her when she is crated. I have several pair for Akasha. I bought her some that are all black, so they are not totally obvious, don't want her to get embarassed that her panties are showing

I know several people who use mens underwear for their bitches. I have never talked to anyone that uses diapers tho.

I use the black plastic ones also, and I only have them on when she is loose in the house, just wanted to hear what other people use or if anyone found anything easier.

I take my nice padded beds out of my crates when a bitch is in season and use cotton rugs as they are easily washed.

I tried using them on Bella but she did not really enjoy wearing them. The last few heat cycles before we spayed her, she went naked and kept herself clean...

Re: Baby diapers for bitches in heat?

Before my girl was fixed - I used the puppy pants. Although I was very careful when I put them on to ensure they were not too tight, I came home to find that she had rolled around and did who knows what else - but the elastic band in the pants had given her a "rug burn" so bad it split her belly open right across and it was very infected. After that, I put her in my unfinished basement with a few comforts while I wasn't home and 6 months later she was fixed. It took 2-3 months for the burn to clear up using flamazine. I don't know if anyone else was unfortunate enough to have this happen, but it is something to be careful of. My vet said she has never seen anything like it. (Maybe part of it was an allergy to the plastic in the elastic??).

Good luck!!
