| Re: Size question I am by no means an expert but here goes from what I'v read on these boards and in books. "Typically" a pup should be about 10lbs per month old. As in: 5 months = 50lbs. This is however just an in general thing. If your pup comes from dogs above the standard then he could be above the pup standard as well. Look for a nice tuck up and see if you can feel the ribs when you touch him. If I am wrong, I guess going to the vet could be a good way of letting you know how your pup is, they sure let me know when my tabby cat was getting to big. Cherry- |

| Re: Size question No, 75lbs is not typical for a 5 month puppy. Be careful with how fast he grows or you're going to set him up for joint problems. Weights can and do vary by bloodlines, but even with that factored in, he is not of average size.

| Re: Size question How do I limit his growth? I feed him the recommended ammount of Purina One large breed puppy and as I said, he's not a bit fat. The vet said he was a good shape and not fat as well. I'm just curious if I have a monster on my hands here LOL!!! |

| Re: Size question Personally, I've never fed the recommended amount on bags, my dogs would be HUGE if I did that (read: fat). A puppy should have easily felt ribs (you can feel them without pressing in), a waist when viewed from above and a tuck-up from the side. You could try feeding him less and see if that helps. Do you know how large his parents are/were? He may come from extremely oversized parents, and there's nothing you can do to battle genetics.
