Weight?

Diesel has will be 11 months in about a week. I knew he would slow his weight gain once he hit 8 months or so. He has gained about three pounds in the last three months. Is that normal? I expect him to be no more than 105-110 that's what his dad is. My husband said that he looks skinny, and asked were we feeding him enough. I think I'm feeding him enough, you can't see any ribs, and he's very muscular.

Re: Weight?

You should not expect him to gain his adult bulk until he is 3 or 4 years old. He has lots of time.

Re: Weight?

Not being able to see ribs is good. Area behind ribs should be slightly recessed. One of the worst things you could do to this type of dog is over-feed and make them fat. It puts a big strain on joints and causes visits to the vet. We been working on some weight management with our dogs and have reduced both of their food intakes to 1 cup of canidae kibble twice a day supplemented with green beans or another type of non-fattening filler.
It's real easy to put weight on but very difficult to take it back off.
