I agree with Judi. I personally would not feel comfortable letting someone else walk my dog. Two days is not that long for him to go without being walked.

Re: Question re: Boarding at Kennel & Walks

Brooke - It's apparent you have some reservations about Julius being walked. I'd be the same way. For your own peace of mind, forego the walks and enjoy your trip to Pittsburgh with Ryan!
Also, don't make a big fuss when you take him to the kennel. Get the instructions in place and be on your way.
Best wishes -
kathy

Re: Question re: Boarding at Kennel & Walks

Don't worry Brooke, 2 days of no walking will be fine. Plus he gets to move about in the run through his doggy door.

We weren't able to walk our dog for weeks after his surgery. If you look at it that way, 2 days isn't so bad.

He'll be primed and ready to go when you get back!

Re: Question re: Boarding at Kennel & Walks

I would say, if you're hesitant don't let them walk him. I firmly believe in trusting your gut. He'll be fine for 2 days. He may have a major case of the zoomies when you get back, but you won't have to worry while you're gone. Maybe once you're back you can take him there and have them walk while you're present or at least waiting back at the spa (maybe you can get a pawdicure while you're waiting ). That way you can feel less anxiety about it the next time you're gone. I would think they'd have pretty experienced dog walkers, but I too would be hesitant about it if it was the first time.

Re: Question re: Boarding at Kennel & Walks

The Rottweiler is not always inclined to defer to someone when it does not have a relationship with that person. There are a few people that can walk my dogs, but they are people the dogs have a well-established relationship with. Beyond that small group, my answer is no.

Re: Question re: Boarding at Kennel & Walks

Thank you all for your advice. We've decided that Julius will not be walked while at the kennel. It will make me feel better & Julius will survive for two days.
