| Re: Dog Licenses: Unofficial Poll Quote:
Now Animal Control sends forms for each dog and it's a reduced rate if dogs are neutered/spayed - $5.00 per dog. You will pay $25.00 per each dog if they are intact. We also had to show their license tags to the evaluator for their CGC's

| Re: Dog Licenses: Unofficial Poll Oh wait.... After reading Pbach's post...we DID have to show the tag when Julius got his CGC. I had forgotten about that.

| Re: Dog Licenses: Unofficial Poll yes, Jake is licensed, well its due now. Bear we never licensed, lesson learned. He got out once (kids left the gate cracked) and he was in front of our house unsupervised, big ticket, $50 dog at large, $50 unlicensed dog. $5 licensing for an altered dog. |

| Re: Dog Licenses: Unofficial Poll yep, both of mine are licensed. Pretty simple to do. Never asked to show it though...yet!

| Re: Dog Licenses: Unofficial Poll I got Chica from the city operated shelter and had to purchase a license when I adopted her...then last year when I received the notice and promptly put it away somewhere I missed the earlybird deadline so i figured I would just hold out for this year. When I received my notice in the mail they have included last year's unpaid fee as well as this years!!!! Since my daughter and I volunteer at the shelter I was hoping to use some influence and only pay this year's license fee...

| Re: Dog Licenses: Unofficial Poll 2 dogs, both are licensed. It's pretty easy, you get their rabies vaccine, the vet gives you the form to send in. All my dogs have always been licensed. Ever been asked for proof? ironically yes, when I was a bite victim, and animal control came to my house, they checked my dog's license while they were there. Steep fines here if your dog is picked up and not licensed. Was able to recover a dog because she was licensed and the person who found her called the shelter and got my name and number from her tag rather than turn her in....so I believe in licenses. And she got out due to, well, let's just say my ex had "an episode" |

| Re: Dog Licenses: Unofficial Poll Well in NYS, a copy of your rabies certificate (automatically) goes to the dog liscensing bureau. So as soon as you get your rabies shot, you're bound to get a call, letter or visit if you don't liscence. Until recently pups didn't have to be liscences until after 6 months. Then they changed the rabies recommendation down to 4 months. Raven did not have hers until she was 6 months (house dog, always with me...in no danger whatsoever!) I'd read that at 4 months their liver might not be equipped to handle a rabies, so I refused to get it for her until she was 6 months. Now, I don't know where i read or heard that, I have no proof of it and have not found it since. Maybe I was hallucinating or even made it up. But I figured I wanted Raven to wait. Everyone is liscenced and legal here.

| Re: Dog Licenses: Unofficial Poll Every dog I have owned have been licensed. It is the law and it is the proper thing to do. I currently have a Boxer and Rotti (altered) and it cost me $12.00 per year ($6.00 each). |

| Re: Dog Licenses: Unofficial Poll I license my dogs the first year or so then I forget or determine I am not going to pay the late fee if it is after March 1st. I have never been asked to show proof that they were legal. They are always up to date on shots. |

| Re: Dog Licenses: Unofficial Poll 5 dogs 5 licenses yearly. Every foster that has come through has been licensed even if it stayed just two weeks. It is the law and it is the responsible thing to do. Part of the license fee helps fund the state spay neuter program. Being responsible earned me a waver from the town on the un-neutered fee for the last foster because they knew she was being done ASAP. Besides it is a cute extra tag for their collar.

| Re: Dog Licenses: Unofficial Poll Dakota is licenced and Cain and Titus are not. All shots are current. I keep up on Dakota's license only because I am forced to by law or get harrassed. I will not licence the other two. When Dakota was first licenced any time a dog complaint was made in the area I was inquired about because I own a rottie. Animal control knows me and my dogs quite well- but on a good basis and the animal control officers in this area no longer bother me as they know all my rotties are nice . Also, I refuse to licence my dogs that are unlicensed until the prejuidence against the breed will be taken out upon licensing. I obey all other laws. My dogs are always leashed, always under my direct supervision when out and don't even go out in my backyard alone even though it is fenced. Also, $300.00 a year to get harrassed is a bit ridiculous to me Crystal |

| Re: Dog Licenses: Unofficial Poll I have three dogs. My county is not very good about sending out renewal notices, usually the late notice is the first notice you get Duncan finally got renewed last month. He should have been done in July. I got distracted and lazy. Because of travel, he got his rabies early and I immediately misplaced his rabies certificate. Then getting a replacement and then I kept on misplacing the renewal notice. Not really any good excues, but he is now legal. Misty will be renewed (hopefully) tomorrow. She wasn't expected to outlive her current rabies vax. Because of her lymphoma, she can't have a rabies vax. So between her close calls and bouncing back, haven't gotten a letter from her vet to say that she can't have the rabies vax. The renewal is when the rabies are due. My vet is to drop off the rabies letter tonight so I will get it in the mail tomorrow and hope the county allows her to be licensed. Fizbin is good until fall. After the first year, it is a three year license. Fees for spay/neuter are $33 for three years. It is 3x that for intact dogs/bitches.

| Re: Dog Licenses: Unofficial Poll Bucky has all his tags - he needs it to visit at the nursing home - besides - it is only $5.00 for a neutered dog and is one more ID tag in case the rabies tag should get lost. I believe my County also uses the revenue to help fund spay/neuter at the shelter.
