Re: More than one type???

There are many rottweilers, like german and american, but they are all the same. Just born in different areas. Also there is longer nose rotts and shorter nose rotts but that is becuz of breeding.
So mainly one type of rott.

Re: More than one type of Rottweiler???

You may have heard of red rottweilers and long haired rottweilers. It is a recessive gene and ethical breeders do not breed for it.
Rare Rottweilers
This site also has info on the German vs. American. I hope it helps

Re: More than one type of Rottweiler???

Of course there are different types of Rottweilers. You see them every day. There are those who come up to the standard and those who are out of two casual Rottweilers.

In most cases the difference is conspicuous regarding conformation and temperament!

Beside that, a connoisseur will see a type difference even in thoroughbred and proven lines. That's why ethical breeders spend lot of time researching before they choose a stud and the same counts for serious conformation and workingdog folks... they look for TYPES!
