| Crate together?? As I mentioned before, we're thinking about getting a little girl (litter should be ready the end of March). We have been going to a bunch of agility trials and have seen owners crate their two dogs together. If she's small like he is, our big crate would fit the two just fine. Is this a bad idea?? It's pretty heavy, but if for whatever reason my husband or I have to take the two dogs to a trial alone, it would be easier to carry one crate. Thanks!

| Re: Crate together?? It depends on the dogs. If they get along well and don't get too wild trying to play in the crate it would probably work fine to crate them together for short periods of time. I have a large soft crate to take to shows and I can crate two of mine together, but they are adults and all they do is take a nap.

| Re: Crate together?? I had one trial where there was practically no crating room and I had two dogs with me. One in crate, one beside my chair and swapping the crate dog. I jammed them both in the crate when I had to go to the bathroom but that was for a couple of minutes. I want my dogs to be waiting for the action with me, not hanging with their buds. I use the soft crates which are quite light to transport, but I would not crate together regardless of how good they are. Even if they fit, it would be not totally comfortable as they jostle each other around. Get a second crate or leave one dog at home. |
