Talking Gil Crni Lotos

Do any of you know why Gil died or what of? Cancer, bloat??? I have a Gil daughter, and I would like to know what happened to her "Pop". He passed away this year at the age of 8.

Re: Gil Crni Lotos

Oh my...I am in such shock! I can't believe this beautiful dog is dead.

I just went to their website and read the letters of support written to the family. From what was written, Gil was sick and put to rest, at his home, in the arms of his owner.

How truly sad!

Re: Gil Crni Lotos

If they have a website, I'd write to the family and ask specifically what the cause was (what type of cancer or disease).

It is always best to ask your breeder or the stud dog owner directly to avoid the rumor mills that are often incorrect.

Re: Gil Crni Lotos

I put off contacting Gil's owners for awhile b/c I wasn't really sure how to ask them what happened to him. I know how hard it is to talk about a loss. So I sent them an email tonight to send my condolences and to ask what happened. He was so young, bless his heart.

Re: Gil Crni Lotos

Since you have a daughter of the dog in question, I wouldn't think there would be too much issue with you wanting to find out.

If I were the breeder, I'd rather you ask me than 10,000 other people. You might get factual information.

Good luck.

Re: Gil Crni Lotos

I own a Gil daughter, and I am very close friends with his owners. To stop the rumors I will be frank, Gil got an infected tooth while Taunya was out of town. He lost nearly 5 lbs because of it. When she had it treated and it started to clear up enough for him to eat, because he hadn't eaten in a couple of days, he bloated. She didn't realize it for a couple of hours and it was too late. She had to put him to sleep.
Please be aware that Taunya is still having a difficult time. He was her best friend. She can't even bare to look at their website, which is why it is so rarely updated now. If she doesn't respond to you then don't take it personally, right now it is easier for her not to think about it.
Hope that clears things up and I would love to see pics of your Gil girl.
Thanks,
Jessica Peace-Urgelles

Thank you so much for the update! Such a terrible, terrible tragedy. Regarding this board, there were no rumors that I am aware of, just concern. Not sure about the other Rottie boards though.

The family will be in our thoughts and prayers. I just can't even imagine....

Thanks again.

Re: Gil Crni Lotos

Oh how tragic! I understand how difficult this must be. Such an aweful way to loose a friend, and such a beautiful dog.
