Talking SUV Crates - Where to find them??

Do any of you know where to find reasonably priced SUV crates - the kind that go side by side in the back of an SUV? I have been checking online for a while now. The cheapest I have found them is about $110.00. I don't understand why they cost so much when you can buy a lot larger crate for your house for about the same price. Thanks for your help!

If you order from this site, be prepared to wait. I waited, then got mad and canceled payment. As soon as I canceled payment - the seat belts showed up. The company is in Colorado and they were going through a new management system (sounded like it's a really small company).

Instead of looking for SUV crates, figure out the maximum width that will fit and use that to look. Midwest crates are fairly priced and shouldn't cost more than $90 or so.

Re: SUV Crates - Where to find them??

We bought our crate in the classifieds. It was almost brand new and half the price. Lots of people buy dogs with the best of intentions, only to get rid of the dog and the supplies when things don't work out. It was true in this case.

"Sigh".

I got one of the side by sides from petsmart.com. It is pretty expensive, but I have to say it is extremely heavy-duty. The quality of it is better than the huge wire one we bought for the house.

I'd be sure the dog fits comfortably in the narrower crate, especially if they're going to spend any amount of time there.

Re: SUV Crates - Where to find them??

I have a Tahoe also, and right now I can only put 2 airline crates in it. I need to be able to get 3 in there. Seat belts are out b/c we train w/ a schutzhund club. 2 of our guys are small (80-85lbs each) so they would be fine in the narrower crates. My big boy (115lbs, 26 1/4 tall) needs more room. So my plan is to have to side by side crates in the back and 1 airline crate to go side ways behind the driver's seat. But gees, the side by side crates are pricey. Maybe Santa will bring us some for Christmas. I was actually looking at the Midwest crates today, but first I have to measure the back of the Tahoe.

IT's an obed/agility company, search on it, you'll find it.

Wink Re: SUV Crates - Where to find them??

If I'm ever looking for an expensive doggy item, I contact the local dog-food or pet stores.Sometimes people return things that you can get a discount on or you can put up a "wanted" sign on their bulletin board.I've often thought about opening a "second-hand" pet supply store...things are getting pretty pricy these days...!
