Re: Rottie-Proof Toy???

I too have used rope. Best is a one inch diameter rope (sold by the foot) with some knots tied in it. Mine have lasted for years.

I will vouch for this item. They also come in a three ring set. They are absolutely true to their name "invincible". Our dog also destroys toys within fifteen minutes, but in a year he has not even been able to dent the invincible chains. Good luck and enjoy.

Re: Rottie-Proof Toy???

Toby's favourite toy is an old car tire. Tire swing/tire on the beach/tire in a ditch....etc...Obviously an outdoor toy, but loads of fun and indestructible. He pulls them around with his front paws...or pushes them out to sea with his nose....or just grabs them and throws them around.

Re: Rottie-Proof Toy???

I use thick cotton rope (used for making horse lead shanks) cut to whatever length you want and tie a couple of knots in it. The one Mocha has now was used as a shank first so it has the yummy horse stink still on it!! She LOVES it!!

Re: Rottie-Proof Toy???

I was given a toy made from industrial felt. It is 1/4 inch thick and cottony, cut into a frisbee shape with a square cut out of the center. It is tough as nails. It survived many a rott vs dobie tug battle, even more dog vs human tug battles, and considerable chewing. No worse for the wear, and washable.

Only problem... no idea where to get them. Has anyone seen anything like this for sale?

Since we are practically under water here in Texas, I went during a brief hiatus in the rain an dbought the fleece. Sharon, it is a HUGE hit and for about 30 minutes the pups had a blast. Then they tuckered out and Cleo decided to SHRED and EAT hers!

They work great for play, but will have to be picked up when the action is over...

Re: Rottie-Proof Toy???

Finally clearing up here in Austin.

Cut your fleece strips about 3 inches wide and 12 inches long. The stuff STRETCHES! Be sure to braid it real tight!

I too have seen every toy destroyed, and now that there are two, toys last half as long. But! the holee roller is indestructable.

I have gone through 5 jolly balls, or I should say my 2 monsters have gone through 5 of them. On all of them, the handles have been chewed off and have been deflated some how. Even bought the biggest one and Jager still finds a way to deflate the bugger! There are teeth holes all over it. Then one day at Tractor Supply, I had seen the Jolly Ball for horses. It seemed to be slightly bigger and heavier, so I bought it to try and guess what?? The bugger is now burried out under the oak tree, Jager killed it! I think he would rather play with it when it is deflated.

Glad they liked the fleece. Sajan is not a destroyer so he can keep his all the time. I have heard that most dogs can't have their tug toys unsupervised for that reason.

Re: Rottie-Proof Toy???

I think they feel feel "proud" when they destroy something. It's like they accomplish something thats tangible.

Then I have some VERY proud pups! I tried a soccer ball once and, yes, they liked it deflated quite well, but even then Caesar had to take a chunk out of it and that was the end of THAT!

Re: Rottie-Proof Toy???

We have a large (1 ft diam?) Jolly ball with a rope thru it that has lasted for years! They roll it, bat it around, play with it, fling it, and tug. It's outside all the time and I've checked to see if the rope is rotting or anything? Doesn't seem so. But If it did, I would cut the rope and replace it with whatever I could find that seems to be the same or close.

It was $17.00 at the time but considering I've had it for probably 3 years, that's not bad at all. The ball is dense solid rubber not hard plastic. I expect it to last FOREVER!
