Air Purification Systems ?

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good air purification system to get rid of doggie orders and to clean the air of allergens and dust. I do not like those new ionic types as they release ozone into the air. I am more interested in one that uses a hepa filter.

Re: Air Purification Systems ?

High end vacuum cleaners have air purifying filters. I remember when I worked at an electronics store a long time ago, they had vacuums designed for those who are allergic to dust and dust mites. I remember that it could be left on to clean the air. I don't know if they ever were good though. But something to look into with your search for one.

Re: Air Purification Systems ?

I used to have a really good one from Sears, but I can't remember what it is called. It got broken when we moved and my husband bought an Ionic Breeze which I HATE! It stinks. I let him keep it in the dogs room on low, but if he turns it on high, I can smell it the moment I walk in the house. The smell reminds of a dirty kitty box

We have 2 of the ionic breeze's and I never have noticed any type of odor coming from them. It helps my husband who has ashma and allergies.

I don't have an Ionic Breeze, but for what they cost they certainly shouldn't be smelling up your house with offensive odors! Could it be the filter needs cleaning and/or replacement?

Re: Air Purification Systems ?

I have the Holmes air cleaner and I find it works fairly well when my husband doesn't shut it off.

I had an Ionic Breeze and it worked great but now it makes a weird fizzing sound and I have no idea why. Unfortunately I can't find the receipt so Sharper Image won't take it back for repair since i bought it at a store.

Ours will make that little fizzing noise, but its because we need to lift it out and clean it. We have a bathroom one too.

It smelled like that from day one. My parents bought one and had the same problems. I have since talked to several different people who have them and some noticed the smell and a few didn't. I even had two tell me they liked the smell, to them the smell meant it was working.

Re: Air Purification Systems ?

I went and got my nose right on it, and I didn't smell anything coming from them. They have another one that is suppose to take germs out of the air, I think. It was more expensive. I am so glad that my husband doesn't have a problems with the dogs and his allergies, etc. They all stay in the house, except to go out to go potty or I go out with them to play. They all sleep in the bedroom with us, so they don't seem to bother him.
