There shouldn't be any difference. The standards are the same. Differences would be ever so slight to arguable.

One was born in Britain and the other in Germany.

At one time I could indeed see the difference in the UK Rottweiler. This was easy to explain as with the import restrictions, the gene pool was pretty set. I imagine that is no longer true.

But seriously, I was told that there where variation between rotts depending on where they were bred……..
As Troy pointed out, this has been discussed many times (do a search for "American vs. German" or something similar. The bottom line is that you may see some regional variation depending on gene pool size in a given area, but the breed standards are comparable pretty well everywhere, and as such a dog either meets the standard or it doesn't.

Re: Difference between British and German Rottweilers?

Serious answer was given above. British Rottweilers, German Rottweilers, Canadian Rottweilers, Australian Rottweilers, New Dehli Rottweilers - the designation is only ACCURATE if that is their place of birth.

German Rottweilers are born in Germany.

American Rottweilers are born in America. A dog can be American born of Import German Rottweilers but they are then American Rottweilers born of German Imports.

The differences can be attributed to the different STANDARDS OF BREEDING in different locales.

According to specific requirements of breeding, or lack of requirements, there will be differences in appearance and temperament. But to believe that a specific look or trait exists because of where the dog is bred isn't advisable.

Ya know, Sable's mom liked both actually, now that you mention it. Yes, with a good Canadian beer, of course.

For Raven's parents, Fussball (soccer) and a beir (beer)!

??Italian's?? That might be pasta, vino and opera?
