Rottn Games??

Need some help with the Rottn Games at this year's Black and Tan Christmas party.

We have the crowd favorite "Bobbing for Hotdogs" and "Dress that Rott" .. but we need one more game.

In the past we have had things like " Longest tail", "Best Smile" and "Longest Drool" .. but would like to add a third game instead of a judged event .. something not too time consuming or tough to set up.

Was thinking of a fetch and carry game .. or a simple Rally O course .. or a sack race. Any ideas??

Re: Rottn Games??

I was watching one of those "trading Spouses" reality shows and one of the wives had a party. What they did was string doughnuts high up on a line with clips and the first one to finish was the winner...it's not as easy as it looks because when you take a bite the line jiggles...now I know dogs can't eat doughnuts, but you could substitute something else....(pita bread, flour tortillas...something bigger maybe?)You'd need to string the line high enough that the dogs might have to be on their hind legs a little....anyways...just an idea...don't know how quickly the "doughnuts" would disappear with a dog...also , some dogs might not have the legs for it....I'll keep thinking...(it hurts, but I'll try!)

...OK...now I remember...the difficulty of it was that someone was actually Jiggling the line and it was hard to get a bite....

Race teams are always good. 3 or 4 dogs to a team with a start and finish line. Handlers leave dog and go to finish line, call, next handler cannot leave his/her dog until the other dog crosses the line.

Musical tiles. Music and tiles (one less tile than handler/dog team. When music stops, dog must be sitting on tile. Extra Dog is out. Remove one tile and continue until there is a winner.

Doggy Tic Tac Toe is a fun one that they do at the fun matches here. Make the grid on the floor with tape and 2 dog and handler teams are on opposite sides of the grid. Call dog to you, as it comes you have it sit in a square, mark the square your dog sat in an X or O and first with Tic Tac Toe, wins.

Re: Rottn Games??

Got a hula hoop, a bag of popcorn and a stopwatch? The dog must remain sitting inside the hula hoop and catch popcorn tossed by the owner/human. Best time wins! Missed a few? Keep counting from the last one caught. Dogs butt rises? Too Bad! Start counting again!

3-4 hula hoops and no stop watches? Becomes a relay! Teams of the same number dogs have to catch, say, 15 popped kernals. I prefer the Relay version best, as people get more involved and cheer!

Re: Rottn Games??

We've had fun in class with loose leash weaving relay races thru distractions .
A bunch of objects are set up on the ground two feet between each , in a line . These include stuffed toys , real fur , dog cookies , tennis balls , open jars of peanut butter etc , etc ( you get the idea )
Dog on left , leash short in right hand . In the leash hand you also have a plastic drink cup with a tennis ball on top . You may only touch the cup . You have to return to the start if you loose your ball . You have to weave thru the objects , turn around and weave back to pass the cup/ball to the next relayer . It's a fun game and helps you see if you really have a loose leash with all those distractions . Spectators get quite a kick out of the balls bouncing away
