Brenda Aloff

So I think I'll be signing up for this behavior seminar that Brenda Aloff has going on at one of the training facilities that Hercules goes to. It's on Sunday June 6th from 9-5 and the cost is $50 bucks. I also am in the process of reading her book called Agression in Dogs, Practical Management, Prevention and Behavior Modification. So far I'm only 127 pages into the 400 page book. I'm not even sure if you call it a book or an instruction manual! It's illistrated and everything.

So before I sign up for the behavior seminar, has anyone heard anything about Brenda Aloff? I don't think a behavior seminar could hurt me, but is it worth $50 bucks you think?

Re: Brenda Aloff

i haven't heard anything about her, but as seminar prices go, $50.00 is cheap.(for an all day seminar)

Re: Brenda Aloff

I thought it sounded like a pretty reasonable price, but I wasn't sure. I also thought Brenda Aloff was supposedly one of the more prominent dog behavorists, especially when it came to aggression, so I was hoping someone here might have heard about her. I guess everyone's dogs on here are too well behaved

Thanks for your input!

I don't know the name either, but there is always something to be learned. I have not attended a seminar yet that didn't cost $100 plus.

If you are dealing with aggression you should attend. Even if you come away with one good piece of information it will be worth it.

$50 is dirt cheap. I pay $150/day for most of my agility seminars. My recent tracking seminar was $75/day and most of the tufts events up here run $100-150/day.

If you like the book, go for it! Who cares what others think of her, if you're enjoying the book and learning from it, what better opportunity than to get to ask questions of the author!!

Re: Brenda Aloff

Well thats good to know that its a reasonable price. I think I'll go for it. I was just hoping someone could confirm/deny her reputation as I know little about reputable authors etc. Her book seems good so far, but I'm only 125 pages into the 400 page book. I'm guess I was a little paranoid that maybe she was an author with outdated training/behavior ideas. I guess if I make it through the whole 400 pages I'll find out.

I do feel like I could use whatever I can get from an aggression seminar so I'll give it a go.

Re: Brenda Aloff

Brenda is an outstanding source with great information. Her techniques are very sound and her advice on target. I would highly recommend any seminar by her you can get to. The Aggression book is fantastic and an excellent resource. At fifty dollars it's a bargain.

Excellent DNeff! Thanks for your reply. I'm glad to hear someone has heard of her and her adivce is sound. The flyer the training facility gave me simply stated that it was an all day seminar on behavior, training and agression. I will have to call soon I think in order to ensure I have a spot!

I'll do my best to take notes Brooke! It's been a few years since I was in college, so I may be a little rusty Also, if there are any questions anyone wants me to ask feel free to post them and I'll take them to the seminar with me!
