| My Dakota (long) I was just reading a website dedicated to good news stories on Rotties. There were some beautiful stories on there and then I started to cry. It made me think of how wonderfully connected our dogs are to us. Just to share a little something; When we purchased our first dog, I was very reluctant to get her. Not because of her breed, I like being knowledgeable as much as possible in the kinds of animals I do get and at the time the only thing I knew about Rotties is that I thought they were cute. My heart was set on getting a Pit-Bull but in retrospect, I am so glad we bought the dog we did. I tell everyone now I am going to own a Rottie up until the day my kids will have to come over and walk it for me . I LOVE this breed now.Anyway, when my son was first born we had almost lost him several times. It was very hard and scary for us. I had just turned 17 years old, and my perfect baby boy was having troubles. 2 months later after the birth of my son I was pregnant with my daughter. My son was going through soo much at the time I felt we'd never get through it. By the time my son had turned 2 and my daughter 1 we had purchased our first rottweiler. My son was still going through so much and had been through so much during his little liffetime that at times things still seemed to unbearable. My dog became so much to me. When my husband was away during the night for 14 hours (he works 12 hr shifts) my dog was the one to comfort my tears when I just couldn't take it anymore. She knew I needed her more than I knew it at the time because she would come over and just nuzzle into me. I would hug her and cry like a baby until I fell asleep. When my son would wake up in the middle of the night because he was in so much pain she would be in there with me, she would sleep with him all the time, when he was feeling ill, waking up for every sound he made my dog was by my side. To make a long story short, things have changed over the last few years, but my dog is still with me to comfort me when I need her the most. She is the first of my 3 dogs to make sure all is well. She is very gentle and loving and has been the best companion I could ever ask for. And still when things are so unbearable and I feel as though I have lost all control she licks away all of my tears and nuzzles ever so gently. I have to say a Thank-you to her and I wanted to share this with everyone. What kinds of things do your dogs do to make your life a little bit easier? I could share so many things, I hope you people can too. |

| Re: My Dakota (long) Well you already know this cause your my sister lol but just the way Squeak says hello in the morning and always has a huge smile on her face, the way she gets the zoomies at the weirdest times, makes my day brighter. When she does those things I love to watch her and cuddle with her, I am able to forget about all of my problems just for those few minutes, but it is definately worth it. |

| Re: My Dakota (long) I have only had my boy for 4 weeks but he makes me laugh each and every day. My mom is elderly and over the past year or so I have noticed her mind going, very hard to have a conversation with her. I always felt it is because she doesn't get out, she is a hermit my mom. Since Cyrus came, she comes down every evening to see him (he LOVES her!) and last week I noticed how much younger she sounds! Not only is she much more "with it" mentally, her voice actually sounds younger.

| Re: My Dakota (long) Harley has a few things he does that just makes me laugh or want to cry with joy. The way he greets me when I walk in the door (NO LYNCHING) he loves to run right up to me and jump on me with his entire Butt wagging. I love the way he gets the zoomies and runs around the house like a chicken with its head cut off. I love the way he smiles at me, I love the way he greets me in the morning, I love the way he will lay down right next to me at the end of a hard day and just knows that I need to snuggle. He has been the BEST companion!

| Re: My Dakota (long) Isnt it funny how the World over we have the very same experience with this wonderful breed. Everyone thinks Im mad cause I treat my dogs the way I do. Its might sound odd, but to me, its like, no one or nothing else in the World means as much to these 3 dogs as seeing my face in the morning or spending time in the back yard playing around.. There 3 dogs are so great I'd just be completely lost without them. ![]() |
