Maui keeps getting hiccups caz she either eats too fast or drinks too fast. She gets them at least 3 times a day...could there be something else behind this...thanks for any and all advice

Re: Hiccups!

If she is a young pup, they often have hickups because the diaphram is not yet matured.

Re: Hiccups!

And this happens 3 times a day, every day? That seems to be quite excessive to me.

Re: Hiccups!

I have heard, although I am not sure that there is any truth to it, that parasites can cause hiccups, but hiccups are normal for a puppy as young as Maui is (I got this from her other threads).

Reno did it, Max did it, and Luna does it. The episodes don't last for more than a few minutes at a time, and they usually follow eating, drinking or periods of excitement. They grow out of it.

Re: Hiccups!

Julius used to get hiccups occasionally as a puppy. Maybe once a day or so. Pretty darn cute to see his body just jump with the hiccups.

He now rarely ever gets them. Can't think of the last time that he had hiccupes....

Re: Hiccups!

Tank used to get them quite often when he was really young, and will still get them every now and then if he gets REALLY excited about something...and since he's not quite one, he's still pretty young and excitable.

Re: Hiccups!

I was about to ask the SAME question!! Good Im glad to know it isnt something wrong with them! Harley gets them once a day. On Rare occasion he will get them twice a day. He only gets them twice in one day when his doggy buddy comes over to play.
Other then that he gets it when he is extreamly excited and playing or when he eats.

Re: Hiccups!

ya Maui's hiccups have gone down i think she had them so frequently because right after she ate she would need to go out and she likes to attack dandelions and then she gets the hiccups or if she attacks me (man shes a tough cookie ) then she gets herself the hiccups
