| Re: Road trip.. What should I take?? Well we are back..... Trip was pretty good..... We loaded up Friday night about 9pm, and began our journey..... Everything was fine until we hit the concrete stretch of I-75..... Right after we got on this stretch, Duke decided to puke in the back seat of my car.... It couldn’t be a little, OH NO; it covered the back seat behind the driver seat..... We pulled off, and stopped at a gas station, and I got him out and hooked him on his 20 foot line, which I help while I cleaned what I could..... Duke seemed fine, so I think the *THUMP* *THUMP* *THUMP* *THUMP* *THUMP* from the concrete road is what made him sick... We loaded back up and were on our way....
The rest of the trip was uneventful; we stopped at a Wendy's where I got him some chicken nuggets.... We ate, and were on our way again... We finally rolled into Lexington about 1am.... The crate that was supposed to be there was NOT there... So instead of leaving right then, we decided to sit around and talk... Duke was a perfect gentleman, I gave him his nylabone, and he just lay right at my feet chewing away at it... Next thing we knew it was 6am, and we still had no crate... I had been up since 5am Monday, so I was tired... I decided to just try it without a crate.... We went outside and walked around until he did his business and went back inside... I took off Dukes prong collar, and just hooked the leash to his flat collar, so I would know if he decided to run across the house... I put his leash on my wrist and lay over on the couch... I woke up at 11am, with duke up on the couch with my arm around him... I dont know how this happened, but I must say he was a good pillow....
By noon we were up and ready... So we took Duke out to the pond/lake that is behind Justin's apartments... There were some ducks in the pond, and Duke took interest in them... I hooked him back on his 20 foot line, and decided to try and get him into the water.... That was interesting... He stepped right into it, and back out, and then decided it was safe, and went running right after the ducks... Apparently he didn’t know that the ground didn’t continue... The look on his face when the ground stopped was priceless... He swam around about 10 feet out, and turned and came back... I must say, these dogs can swim, and I must get him in the water more often... The majority of the rest of the day was spent walking him around to dry him off, and then back into the apartment for a round of XBox gaming...
We got loaded back up, and on our way back about 9pm that night, and made it home with no delays, arriving about 11:30pm.... Duke was put on his chain at the house, and he ran straight to his dog house, and plopped down...
All-in-all, it was a good trip.... Other than the puking, there were no messes to clean up indoors, and we had a great time... |
