| Re: Im gettin a rott Hi! Congrats on getting your first rottie! You will find tons of helpful information here at rott.net. Just do a search on your key word or words or browse through the various forums. When I got my first rottie, I was a novice as well. I found the book "Rottweilers for Dummies" by Richard Beauchamp actually contains loads of useful information for the beginner and I recommend it. Also, be prepared to do lots of obedience training classes with your rottie. It will give you a wonderful bond with your rottie, will establish you as the "leader" in the relationship, will build your rottie's confidence and last but not least, you will have a wonderfully well mannered rottie. Good Luck!!

| New Rotti in August Hello everyone here, Well, last week I put in my deposit for my baby. I will get him in August, unless mommy decides to have all girls. I will get him at 8 weeks. He is coming from Florida and I am so excited. Every week I buy something for him. I am needing to go get another laundry basket for more toys. He will join my shih tzu (she will have a rude awakening), and I have a greyhound. I am sure she will keep him running after her. I haven't had a puppy for years. My sheltie passed away in November of being almost 17 years old. I raised them while I lived in San Diego and did the competition obedience. I am excited, but so scared that I am going to screw up. I am a dog trainer, and I am buying him as a show dog. I think that I am wanting to do everything so perfect. I will be able to take him to work with me every day. The way I trained years ago, and the way I train now are two different ways. I am leaning toward totally getting motivated with toys. Treats too. I am still trying to figure out what type of brush I need etc. |

| Re: Im gettin a rott Congrats! I will be getting mine in about 5 or 6 weeks. Luckily, a woman my wife works with has a breeding pair of rotts. They have papers etc. And have been thoroughly checked. We have a couple of other dogs here that were raised as pups so I'm not overly concerned. Nice thing I have 50 acres and live out in the country so there is lots of room to run around. Dave... |
