Lost / Stolen Rottie in Toronto

Hi all,

I have permission to crosspost this - if anyone has any information - please don't hesitate to contact this poor man.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Subject: MOLDY - Lost Rottweiler

I just want to thank you all for the overwhelming wave of empathy and support received. I haven't been able to find Moldy, YET. I won't give up on her, even though it's clear by now that she was STOLEN. I didn't want to rush to the conclusions but as the time passes it becomes clear that the person who took her doesn't plan to bring her back. I am not sure what else I should do, as the police doesn't want to get involved. I went to the local division but only to be told they couldn't help me; the officer said it's not a formal theft unless I actually see somebody having her. Only then I should call them. I couldn't believe it, but that's what the officer told me, he wouldn't let me file a formal complain.

I checked Toronto Animal Services and Humane Society by phone and online regularly, I even went there in person, just in case. I called the vet, I also covered a few blocks area with very visible signs with info and picture, and I offered a reward. No news so far.

Very friendly 3 years old female Rottweiler, her name is MOLDY.

She is tall, slim and long, weights 85 pounds, and she has several unusual small white spots on her fur.
She was wearing a brown leather collar with a tag having engraved her name and my address and phone number, and a second tag from her vet.

She has been lost Thursday Jan 22 at Sherbourne/Isabella, Toronto.
(While she was tied up in front of the grocery store, someone unleashed her and took her away!)

If you have any information at all, please contact Dragos at:

Please PM TrishB for contact info

Re: Lost / Stolen Rottie in Toronto

Personally? I would be heartbroken and crushed.

2 years ago, I was going through a break up, had moved into a place where I knew no one, had found out my company was going out of business and an old friend was going through a personal h#ll.

My roommate at the time let my 2 cats outside (this was before Parker was in my life). My cats are indoors cats, both declawed and had never been outside (I got them both at 8 weeks old). My new neighbourhood had fast moving cars and lots of wildlife (skunks, stray cats, raccoons).

I was a DISASTER! Emotional wreak comes to mind. My friend eventually found them for me hours later. One was cowering on a window ledge behind some bushes, the other was in the neighbourhood.

Now, don't get me wrong, I love my cats. But if I were to lose Parker? I can't imagine it....and don't want to! :(

Please - if you hear of anything about this dog - think of your own dog and how you'd feel - and then make that call.

I really hope he finds this poor girl. I also hope when he finds her he doesn't leave her tied out while he does grocery shopping. :(

Update!

I received this Jan 29th ... at least this one had a happy ending!

"This is just to let you know that Moldy, the Rottie girl, has been found.

Moldy is back home, in perfect condition, happy and healthy. Such a happy ending after a loooong and agonizing week!

What really happened I don't know. A guy who recognized Moldy from the picture on the flyers with which I covered the area called me saying that he found her abandoned. I was so happy to have her back!

I want to thank everybody for your help, for your sympathy and advice, for your warm and heartfelt messages.

Thank you again"
