Pictures can only be posted in the Picture This or Chit Chat forums which you don't have access to yet as a junior member. Once you have posted I think about 30-40 posts you will become a member & have access to those forums. So stick around. We can't wait to see pictures of Zeus.

:)

As new owners I'm sure that you all have some questions. Post away & you'll be members in NO TIME! ;) By then you'll be addicted to this place & there will be no help for you! :D I'm stalling at the moment instead of writing a college paper. Better get it done before Oprah.

But yeah, stick around & keep asking questions!
:)

Re: New here and a new rotty puppy

Thanks for the welcome! I look forward to reading everything on here and learning. My puppy housebroke very easy, but he made up for that in his attitude LOL. He is a little holy terror, chews on everything! And boy does he bark a lot! But he has aslways sleep through the night in his crate. And he wont go potty in his crate, so every morning, like 5 minutes before my alarm clock goes off, he whines to go outside. The funny thing is he does this the sametime every morning. He is a very smart little puppy!

And when my dog Julius was little he was the exact opposite. He was a bit of a pain in the butt to housebreak but never chewed on anything (except for a kitchen cabinet about 2 months ago ) & he hardly ever barks unless someone is coming up to the house. They can be crazy little buggers at times but they're just so great!

Re: New here and a new rotty puppy

I have a little Chihuahua that he just keeps barking out, with his little butt in the air. LOL And he will bark if he is in the barkyard and hears something on the other side of the fence. And of course he is always barking at my German Shorthaired Pointer, he is 7 months. They are best buddies but they can play rough at times, I have to seperate them. But he is a blast to have around

Re: New here and a new rotty puppy

Yeah i guess my hands can get full at times, but it is all worth it! They are all great dogs to have around. My chi is only 2lbs, full grown, so he is kept away from the other doga [he has his own little room in the house]. My GSP is very well behaved and keeps my rotty entertained. Its fun to play with them both and watching Zeus slowly growing and before I know it he will be bigger then my GSP ;) . I wouldnt trade any 3 of them for anything in this world :D

Welcome Blair, Zeus sounds like a normal, spirited puppy! Lucky you. :)

A 2lb Chi? Wow. I want to see a picture of him too!

Re: New here and a new rotty puppy

I've had my rotti pup Sampson for a week now and this site has been incredibly helpful. He's definitely a handful with potty training and chewing but I fell in love with him instantly.
I'll admit I really didn't want anything to do with rottis. I've wanted a Jack Russel for the last couple of years, but have been holding off till I thought I was ready for the full time responsibility. Well my boyfriend brought him home last week. I've never discriminated on the breed but I was attacked 3 months ago by my boyfriend's sister's rott, and since then, wanted nothing to do with them. Coincidently, Sampson is that dog's son, and I'm determined to make his a better name. My family and friends think I'm nuts to even give it a chance especially since I'm having a baby in a few months. Anyway, I appreciate all the tips and advice that I've gotten on here already, and thanks ahead of time for all the questions I know I'll be asking.

Re: New here and a new rotty puppy

welcome Natasha........I can understand how you feel. I was attacked by a Dog a few years ago (An akita to be exact) I was deathly afraid to be near another dog for weeks until I realized Why I was attacked and came to terms with it. I Truly feel It was my fault and he was just defending what he thought was his.
It was a neighbors dog. He got out of the fence and was wandering around the street and front yard. I approached the yard while he was sitting in the front yard. I got down to his level and put my hand out and let him check me out, When he was through checking me out I stood up slowly and turned my back. Next thing I know I had a 150lbs dog wrapped around me with all four paws. The neighbor got the dog off of me but I had several bites on my wrist and my back.
Anyway Long story short, after I came to terms with the fact that it was my fault I have been a little more cautious approaching dogs (no matter the size) and have learned to love them again.
Im sure your new pup will become a loving member of the family that you will enjoy for years to come.
