The Drool Factory

This morning I noticed that my 7 month old male, Link, is drooling like crazy! This is not normal behavior for him. He does get "stringers" after he drinks but this drooling has been at random times throughout today. I remember this happened one other time about 2 months ago and the next day he was fine. Any ideas or anything I should be looking for. Other than the drooling his behavior is normal. Thanks!

Excessive drooling can be due to the dog getting something bad tasting in his mouth. A while back I needed to give Kodi some liquid Benadryl and he hated the taste and immediatly started to drool... a lot! Also, Kodi will start to drool a lot if his stomach is upset. If it continues I would make a call to your vet, just to be sure. Let us know how Link does.

our boxer gets the non stop drools when she has an upset stomach and we know that means to leave her out all night because she is going to have BAD case of the squirts.

Well, no squirts at this point. He is much better today, no excessive drooling to speak of. We gave him some rice last night with his food and I think that did the trick. He is back to his old doplic, playful self again. Thanks!

Also: Always examine the mouth carefully to make sure a piece of stick or chew is not lodged between the teeth and causing irritation. On older dogs check of an abcessed tooth or gum disorder.
