Join Your National Club Today!

How many of you are members of your national breed club? Why or Why Not?

Sadly, many dog owners feel that they should only join the national breed club if they show or breed. It isn't true! It is so that you have a say in the direction of your chosen breed in your country. You'll receive a newsletter keeping you up to date on the 'goings-on' surrounding our breed and it also gives you the right to vote.

The breed description, COE, events, trials, CGN tests, media attention, fund raisers, medical information, etc. You can vote, you can get informed, you can represent your breed!

Fighting BSL is an incredibly difficult fight, and there's a long road ahead of us. Since it typically falls to the municipal level - that means EVERY municipality across this huge country has the option to introduce by-laws. That's huge!

For the Rottweiler Club of Canada to have the power to make an impact, we need membership support. Not only your signatures - but also your numbers!

So please - if you're not a member of the RCC - please, become one! Our breed needs you.

And if you're not Canadian - Join Your National Club Today! :D

I would love to join and will but right now I am getting supplies (toys, toothbrushes, dog bag, new leashes) and things like microchipping (last friday), a number for my dog not registered to compete in ob (next week), new dog food ($40 a bag), classes coming up after X-mas,and X-mas. Next year for sure.

This is the problem that we experience in the states! Great forum however alot of folks talk the talk but don't walk the walk. One excuse after another!:( I can speak for the Canuso's. We belong to the United States Rotweiler Club www.usrcweb.org, the american rottweiler verein www.arv.org, DVG http://www.dvgamerica.com , and for all the akc folks we belong to the colonial rottweiler club http://www.colonialrottclub.org. We don't show our dogs in this venue however we believe it is important to support their efforts as well as the german style clubs. Finally, we belong to the Hudson Valley Rottweiler and Schutzhund Club and all you rottweiler lovers out there should support the Nationals in NY which will be held in MAY 2004. Some of the nicest dogs in the country will be there. To find out details for the show and see the premium on line go to WWW.USRCWEB.ORG and go to events and find the information on Nationals and click on SHOW SITE. It really upsets me to hear people make excuses why they don't belong to one of these clubs because they are trying to protect your right to own this wonderful breed. SAAAADDDD!:( No more excuses! Hurry up and join.:)

You are doing things that Responsible owners should do, and that in itself is walking the walk and helping the cause. You should be proud....;)

Funny! This seems like the normal everyday items to me. Going above and beyond is supporting the clubs who in turn fight to give you the right to own this breed! If we don't all get in-sync, one day you will wake up and find you are unable to purchase this breed of dog and others in the U.S. If you don't believe this then look at the posts about insurance because this is how it starts. People have very little choice on what company will insure their homes. Very similiar to NRA issues. Support these clubs so they can continue to help keep this breed in the states!;) By the way, this is Steven posting this!

And please note, it is the parent club, not local or regional clubs that have the authority to govern the standards, delegates with the country's registry body and representative to the IFR.

Actually those are not the everyday items for the average pet owner. Everyday items if the pet is lucky is a bowl of food and some water sitting on the back porch. She has gone above and beyond of what even the law says she has to.

And people who show, join clubs, and fight for the Breed rights are doing an excellent job and I will support them where I can when I can and when I want to.

But at the same time it is not fair to make forum members feel they are not walking the walk and just talking the talk and making excuses just because they are not members of these clubs. We all have different type of life styles.

I remember one time when the Booster club for my daughters Gymnastics club made me feel I wasn't doing my part because I took time off to deal with a divorce and a child really sick due to toxic mold. Excuse me the gym got my 4 grand a year in tuition.

I also can not stand it when school boards make working moms feel like a heel because they are out making money to feed their kids instead of sitting with the board working out educational things. I pay my Tax Dollars ....use those!!!

I support these clubs and their fights 100%, but it is not fair to say "Great forum however alot of folks talk the talk but don't walk the walk. One excuse after another!"

Seems kind of like preaching to the choir......;)

Just my opinion though......:D

Thank you.

Without boring you with my financial details, it is not possible for me to join ARC at this time. Since I have the application for membership on my desk, it will be sent in as soon as I have an extra $30 that won't be better spent on food.

I have a well behaved dog that is a joy to take places and introduce to people who are uninformed about our breed, I write letters to anyone and everyone who holds the breed responsible and not the owners, and I support the rescue groups in every way that I can. I am offended that because I can't cough up $30 to join a club I am considered a bad owner.

I hope that your financial situation is always one that affords you the ability to support so many memberships, but please remember that not everyone's does. That does not make them a bad owner.

Where did I say you were a bad owner! My opinion is that alot of folks talk about doing things to help this breed out, set up rescues across the states but don't belong to any organizations to help PROTECT this animal. My father always talked about priorities. We all can sacrifice $40.00 to get involved with this breed over and above just talking. Not only are you helping the clubs out but you receive benefits such as magazines, articles to help raise your rotty and most of all we form an alliance which is the most important part of the membership. How do you think things work in D.C.? You writing a congressmen won't help that much but forming a large organization will send a strong message ect..NRA, AARP and other strong lobbyist groups in the country. Sorry my passion for this dog makes you offended but I speak the truth. Try to sacrfice one thing next year to raise your membership money and enjoy the extras them come along. How in the world can we have all these great peoples on different forums talking about a great breed and all the problems yet only have small membership in clubs like USRC, ARV, RKC and others. One more thing, the AKC fights the biggest battles because they have the most money. THANKS AKC. By the way, I work 2 jobs as well as my wife but we sacrifice to give the money to these needy organizations. Oh, I forgot one thing. We worked at rescue for a year and saw how these dogs are treated by folks that should not own them. Some of the clubs support breed wardens like in Germany. This might help prevent the wrong person from breeding and buying these dogs which in turn would help prevent some of the bite problems in the country.:)

I would never ask someone to put themselves in financial difficulty to join a club. Priorities must be taken into account.

If you're not currently a member - and you have the money to spare, please join! If not, wait until after Christmas and put some of your Christmas money to good use! ;) My membership started in March (after the Xmas credit cards were paid off... ).

The point is to join us when you can and suport us when you can. :)

Believe me, if I had been better informed earlier in the year, I would have joined alot sooner. As it is I have 4 grandkids, 3 kids, two grandmothers, two sisters, and parents to at least get one gift for. On top of my two precous dogs and a husband..........well it will have to wait until after X-mas

I was under the impression that you had to show or compete to join these clubs.

Me, too. I don't really know much about it, but I am going to look into it. Is there a monthly fee or is it just a registration fee?

You don't need to show or compete to be a member of the ARC. In fact the ARC has an associate membership, so that people who don't currently own rotties can be members as well. They also removed the requirement that you have two members sponsor you to join.

I highly recommend joining!
