Rottweiler Misrepresentation

Our local news station ran a story this morning about there being a higher than usual incidence of rabies in the area to alert all to watch out for wild animals and make sure your pet's rabies vaccines are up to date. In the upper corner of the screen during this presentation they ran a picture of a snarling rottweiler!!

I emailed the station (the newsperson who delivered the story) and advised him that I did not feel this was appropriate, particularly with the story they ran it with. I told them that, as a rottweiler owner, I was insulted and that we had enough problems trying to fight the stereotype of this beautiful and noble breed.

He emailed me back and stated he had referred my complaint to the appropriate personnel and that the picture would no longer be used with future broadcasts of that story.

A small win in the battle......

Now we need to go after that electronic air cleaner thing they advertise on late night TV. has anyone else seen that one?

They talk about all the stuff that it eliminates. When they say "Offensive Odors" they have a picture of a Rott, laying on the couch with a puzzled look on his face.

Quite funny yes.... but offensive odors? Nahhhh...never!

Woofus!

I've seen that air cleaner commercial - but the Rottweiler looks sweet & I don't find it offensive. After all, many Rottweilers fart a lot. :p
Patty - you did good! We're proud of you!

Thanks, guys!! I try! I have seen that air cleaner commercial. I wonder if they know rotties fart a lot or they were just using it as an example of doggie odors. Personally, my dog doesn't smell like a dog but the back end certainly works!;)

Did you see the column in the Sundays paper Parade magazine. They were talking about ways to make you insurer nervous. they showed a pictured of a rotty snarling, showing its teeth with a big spiked collar on.
