Toys that are rottie proof in my expierence are invincible rings which you can find at Dr Foster Smith online. Our dog also has yet to destroy his Kong Stuff a ball. On the cheaper side he has a basket of empty marrow bones that he still continues to toss around. Experiment w/ stuff too. Our dogs favorite toys are always the chepaest. A knotted up t-shirt, empty buckets, and empty peanut butter jars are his favorite.

Birdie likes to eat flies that she can catch, too. I think it's like a game for her!

I don't give pigs ears ever. Birdie tends to get possessive of them when people are visiting the house, not with me or my husband, though. Also, she can bite off big chunks of them and I don't want her to choke.

Kongs are just about the only toy that Birdie won't destroy. She has the biscuit ball and the big green kong. I'm getting her the kong on a rope for Christmas.

Wookie has found that moths are easier to catch than flies so she goes after them instead. But flies will do if there are no moths around. You just need to watch out if there are bees or wasps in the area, a sting probably won't seriously hurt your dog, but they can be allergic to bee stings just like people aparently.

Brodie is a bug eater too, loves to chase them down.

I also vote for the Kong as the best Rottie-proof toy. Brodie has the biscuit ball and the tug toy. He also loves to play with plastic bottles. Water bottle, 2 liter bottles, milk jugs, etc...(all empty of course with labels and caps removed). He is also a big fan of raw marrow bones, even after he's gotten all of the marrow out and has picked the bone clean he will still play with them and chew on them when we are home to supervise him with them. We don't give him pigs ears or rawhides because of possible choking and intestinal blockage. We do give him compressed rawhides on occasion because they do not expand in the stomach as much as regular rawhides.

Our dogs love the kongs and the large Galielo (not sure if that is spelled right) chew toys. Also good for their teeth are the gumabones that have the bumps on them, helps to keep the teeth clean and the gums healthy.

I second the opinion that pigs ears and any rawhide items are not what you want to give your pup. Too much chance of him swallowing a large chunk and risking the chance of a blockage which would require surgery.

The pig ears I found out early on, are very greasy, and just not good for the dogs, rawhide too. I made the mistake of giving rawhide with my first dog. I had no idea how much it can mess with their system, (think of the wet pieces in their stomach trying to break up ) yuck.

I give my girl raw marrow bones, which you can get cheap at a butcher shop. They don't splinter, that is the best part. Sometimes the other "cooked" beefy bones will.... Kongs are great because you can stuff cheese, or kibble, anything and the dog has to work to get it out of the toy. Plus its virtually indestructible, a RARE thing in the rottweiler toy area..:D :D

Yep, just about anything made by Kong has it hands-down; we have a red solid Kong ball for retrieveing, the Kong biscuit ball, and 2 black Super Kongs for Power Chewers :D . Really, all of this is for Ocean, chewer supreme. Blaze will not chew ANYthing, EVER. I have tried pig ears, bacon-smoked rawhide, Nylabones, NOTHIN'. This is probably why his teeth are so bad.

Oh, I almost forgot - the big Booda-bone is her favorite!
And the GLow-Ball for nighttime fun (since daylight savins time is almost over, this is a must). They also like the squeezy feel of it - it looks like it would be easy to puncture, but they never do.

I have tried basketballs, but they are not interested. They prefer small prey (tennis balls under supervision, too small and easy to destroy).

They also love to chew on the cat...

I also agree that Kong products are great. Julius loves his Kong Biscuit ball....& it comes with a lot of tricky ways to put treats in it. Julius also loves his Nylabones & his favorite ones are the types the are difficult for him to get a hold of....thus making it much more frustrating. He loves the wishbone shape & we're going to be ordering the ring shape soon. Someone told us that if your puppy won't chew on a Nylabone just rough it up a bit with a file. Worked like a charm for Julius when he was teething & now he needs no help at all starting a Nylabone. ;)

We have never given Julius a pigs ear. First of all they just gross me out.....& I've read things about the preservatives that they put those things through. So we just stick with the raw bones for Jules. He's a happy camper.

:)

You can also boil a Nylabone (the hard ones, not the Gumabones) in broth to make it smell more appealing - most of the time you just need something to get the dog started on it.

I'm not sure about the Nylabone... Dante ripped through one of these faster than he did the compressed rawhide. (If I remember correctly... it was a while ago)...
We don't do the compressed rawhide anymore either... About all we have is the marrow bones, kongs and the Hartz plastic chew bones (with the "dental stimulators")...
I don't consider any toy to be completely indestructible (except for maybe the Galileo)... everything shows some type of wear.

best toy

anni's favorite for the last four years has been a small metal mixing bowl -- you know the kind that come as a nested set of three bowls? she'll bat that thing around with her forefeet, then flip it with her nose and carry it around -- which is hysterical to watch, since she can't see around it very well. but it entertains her for long stretches at a time, and always gives me a great laugh.

Nope, no fly catching here. I did see her catch a bee once though, so it wouldn't be out of character.

I let her have raw marrow bones. Disgusting, I know. Grossed me out the first couple of times too. But, as was mentioned, they don't splinter. You just have to make sure to throw them out after a while. I'm sure they would attract something horrible that I NEVER want to see.

She has several varieties of Kongs, including a blue floating one with a rope. She's got several balls, with or without ropes. Doesn't destroy much, I guess. She's still got some soft toys from when she was a baby.

My last Rottweiler ( Bosco was a very silly dog) was obsessed with flies. I drew one on the wall, and he just went ape over it. Just out of reach - he was about to bring down the wall, so I painted over it.

Daphne the Destructo-Rott can deconstruct a black Kong in an hour or so. Galileo bones and marrow bones are the only safe chewies for her.

Big cardboard boxes are great fun - so are tires, pop bottles, the cat... :D

I never get pigs ears or rawhides, I worry about blockages. Despite the fact my dogs have eaten things like entire raw chickens (I feed raw) for going on three years, the only thing any of them has choked on was when Cooper got the knot from a rawhide bone stuck in his throat at a friends house. Scared me to death - luckily he was able to hork it up without my intervention!
