| We have a similar situation in our dogs, I also picked Tiler up from the pound, and he does have separation anxiety. The advice you have recieved here is good. Just drop him off, say good bye and leave. He will be very happy to see you return. Don't make a big deal of the departure or the return. The idea of dropping him off there for an hour or so is a good one, if nothing else it will give you more confidence in the dog and the place you're leaving him. Good Luck!!

Seriously, could you elaborate on this? How do we know if a dog has no concept of time?I know not as far as time on a clock, but I truly think the dog can establish day and night and know their is a difference between hours and days. Also, I have seen the way my dogs react to the difference between just running to the store for say, 30 minutes, compared to me being gone most of the day. The excitement level in greeting is much more intense the longer I have been gone. The dog's excitement, not mine ;) |
