flea eradication in home

A friend has developed a flea infestation in her home this fall. She has a miniature schnauzer and a cat, both of whom live indoors. She has treated the pets, but realizes that the fleas are still in the house. Is there a preferred method, other than a bomb, to get rid of fleas? Or is there a flea bomb that is recommended? I will pass along any suggestions. Thanks.

Is the home mainly carpet? If it is, there is a product called "Flea Magic." It's a powder and the main ingredient is borax. You sprinkle it into the carpet once a year and it will get rid of the fleas assuming the dog does not keep bringing more fleas in from outside. For the outside, you can spray the grass with a mild soap solution and that works well.

The key is you have to break the cycle of fleas hatching out. In a warm climate that may mean every 7 to 10 days a new batch will hatch out. So once a week vacuum the carpet, bath the cat and dog and spray the yard.

Hum, I can't remember what we used for my grandma's house but we used a bomb that we got at Walmart that worked fine.
