Jaime, I am pretty sure I met you and Brodie at the training facility while I was there observing. Brodie and I got along great, hehe. And yes I will be using that trainer, as a matter of fact, we will be starting puppy kindergarten in 2 weeks!

I will work on having someone come by the house but as of right now, I don't have that luxury.

crate training

I moved Rocco into a full-size crate (one of those hard carriers) when he was about 10 weeks old because I couldn't afford to keep buying larger carriers as he grew. Maybe I was just lucky, but he never had an accident in it.

Ok, I remember who you are now. Glad to hear you will be joining Walter's class. I still say you probably could've just taken Marvin(the black Belgian) home with you and forgone all of this puppy stuff.LOL

Bear/rottie - with the AKC you can not show a neutered or spayed animal in the conformation ring. However, if you want to do Obedience, Agility, Herding, Tracking, etc. you can do this with an altered dog.

LOL, yes Jaime, I probably could have taken Marvin home with me. We became quite good friends.

I went and looked at the midwest 48" crate tonight and I am going to go with it. It comes with a divider so I can start off with a small space and expand from there.

Thank you, everyone, for your advice and words of encouragement! I am very excited to say the least. Be prepared for plenty of pictures, that is if I can figure out how to post them, hehe.

If the dog is neutered you can register them for an ILP and they can compete in all AKC events except conformation. Some dogs are also sold with an AKC limited registration from their breeders. This means that if the dog turns out better than they thought it can be converted over to a full registration and the dog can show in conformation. If not, the limited registration applies and I beleive that again, you can participate in all AKC events except for conformation even though the dog is intact. Most breeders I know who do limited registrations require teh dog to be spayed/neutered if they do not convert the dog over to a full registration.

At least this is how it has been explained to me.
