Dog beds

What kinds of beds do you use for your dogs, if any?
I bought one of those BIG gunny sacs and filled it with cedar for outside, they loved it .. until it rained and then they shredded it For next to my bed, since I don't have a whole lot of space, I use two body pillows with a twin sheet sewn into a pillow case that fits perfect. Easy to toss in the wash. Sadly 3 weeks ago, both pups could fit on their pillow bed, Now one dog takes up the whole thing.. time to buy more body pillows.
Ozzy loves his bed, he drags it from my bedroom to the kitchen when he naps in the afternoon. Its the cutest thing.:D

I use a crib matress the cheaper plastic style one that way if they drool on it or any accidents happen you spray the matress with bleach and put the sheets in the washer and dryer. dogs love it and sleep on it every night.

We just moved our bedroom up into the attic (confused the heck out of Wook, she still is trying to go into the old bedroom every time she wants to nap) and there is enough room up there for it to be both a bedroom and kind of a sitting room. Wook sleeps on the couch. She's so abused.:D

I use a twin matress on the floor ........:D I don't think I will ever buy a dog bed again. Twin matresses go on sale all the time for under 100 dollars and they last a very long time. If I needed something smaller I would go with the Baby mattress like robsaun317 has.

Costco (Discount warehouse like Sam's), has large dog beds for $20. They are therapeutic foam with nice washable covers. Dogs love them and they are inexpensively replaced. We've had them for about 8 months now with very little wear.
We bought the first bed from PetSmart and paid about $65. It was poorly sewn and lasted about three months.

After going through 4 dog beds in 3 months we decided to get one that looked durable, was comfortable for her because of her HD and felt like our bed, which she seems to love to sleep on!;) We got this. She sleeps on it everynight, has never even attempted to chew it (although if you put a blanket on it for her she still chews the blanket! ) and I think it's pretty comfortable for her hips. It was a bit pricey, though, and I think next time I would find a cheap crib matress somewhere.

She still prefers our bed but that is no longer an option for her. At least not while I'm home!;)

Betsy absolutely loved the big round beds with higher bolster sides. They are very pricey and only lasted until the cat urinated on it! Now it's Costco beds for us!

Well my other half is great on the sewing machine so she makes ours. Made a bed for a 700 crate for about $7.00. Made one for a 500 crate for about $5.00. They get nasty they go to the garbage and she makes another one.

Chase and Missy have a queen size comforter that is folded in half. This weeks sewing project is to cut it in half and sew the new seam. Missy's half will be folded in half again before it is sewn but Chase's will have more stuffing added and a new back sewn on.

This is the first time we have had dog beds in the house. Chase has been mostly uninterested until the last couple of days.

BTW - queen size comforter (purple of course) found at garage sale for $1.

I have four dog beds in the house. Three are large, double egg-crate foam inside with sheepskin/canvass covers. They're about 4" thick and big enough for a large Rottie to sleep flat out. They've lasted about three years so far, but one has started to sag in the middle. The covers are removable for washing and my dogs seem to like them, but they were really expensive (about $75 each) and the foam inside doesn't seem to be holding up very well. I bought them mail order through KV Vet Supply. The other bed is a large sheepskin throw. Of course with all these beds to choose from my dogs usually choose to sleep on the tile floor.

Loose cedar chips line the entire dog run-play area...it's huge! Like most peoples fenced yards, in fact. They're only in it for a quick romp and frisbee or ball catch in the afternoon.

Inside, we have those 6" orthopedic memory beds. Very comfortable...laid on one myself! Covers remove for washing.

For travel, I bought 1" foam, covered it with steel blue color sheepskin, complete with ties, so I can roll it into a bedroll. They work great in crates too, if we have to take them.

My guys love their orthopedic crate mats (egg-crate foam with zip-off fleece covers), but if they don't hold up, you all have given me some great ideas for replacements at a fraction of the cost!

I got for my dog kind of expensive bed but she didn't try to tear it in pieces like previous ones. It's leather, so it's easy to clean, it's not hot in a summer, and has a bolster to rest head on it.
