Certificate of DNA????

I was looking on the AKC website for the stud to my new puppies AKC paperwork. However when I typed in Goliath I was given 44 results. So I called my breeder to ask which one was his and he told me the AKC certificate of DNA #. When I typed that into the AKC website nothing came back. Im curious is that different from the registration # and if so where do i go to look that up.

You need the AKC registration number. The DNA number is associated with the registration number, but not the other way around.

If the DNA# is associated with the Reg #, I would think that you could just look at all of the 44 "Goliaths" till you find the one with the right DNA #...

Or you can go in the back door and look up his OFA number in that database. I'm assuming that you should have all those numbers on your sales contract and the pedigree that you should have received as well as copies of the health certifications. If you do not have any of those items, then back waaaay up on acquiring this puppy. It is very unusual for someone to give a DNA number when asked for specific information on a stud dog they have used. I have a DNA number on my dog, but its only purpose is for certification if shipped semen is used. It is certainly not used as the identifier for the dog and only AKC uses the DNA number for that or in the frequently used sires program.
