AKC registration

I have a 6 year old female and she is a purebred rottie. The only thing is she doesn't have is papers. Is there any way to get papers for her? It there a test or standard that could be given to her? The woman that I got Lady from left her with the inlaws and the father beat Lady. I really don't want to go back to this woman and talk to her again. It's very hard not to give her a piece of my mind about what happened to Lady.

:)

Lady -- Rescued rottie -- 6 yrs.
Nicky -- Golden Retriever -- 3 yrs.
Norman -- Short hair cat -- 8 yrs.
Mystra (sissy) -- long hair calico -- 6 yrs.
Sammy and Kit Kat -- twins -- 3 yrs.
Spanky -- rescued from ditch out front of house -- 9 months

I think it's too late for her AKC papers. The litter must be registered by the breeder, and since you probably don't know who the breeder is or even the sire and dam, I think you're outta luck.

However, if you want to participate in AKC performance events like obedience, agility, herding, tracking, etc., you can get her and Indefinite Listing Privilege (ILP) number. I got one for my rescue girl so we could show in obedience, and it was really easy. You just send in a head shot and a sideview picture of your dog along with the ILP application, proof of spay/neuter, and $25. You can read more about it here: http://www.akc.org/registration/ilpex.cfm

Of course, if you don't want to show in any of these events, I wouldn't bother.

I wanted to try her in pulling a cart. She's very strong and is well behaved. I don't have her papers for spaying the other owner does. Could I have my vet provide papers saying that she's spayed? Thanks for the link.

I just recently had to have proof of spay myself. Unfortunately hadn't been to the vet that had done it in over 5 years and he has thrown out her records. I had my current vet palapate her tummy and sign a paper stating that palapation and scar (she had the right medical term) was consistant with a spay.
If you want to enter an ARC carting test, you don't need AKC registration. Rotts do very well at pulling carts. My girl loves doing that.

You CAN get an ILP registration. It is specifically designed for purebreds wishing to compete in venues other than conformation.www.akc.org/registration/ilpex.cfm
