| Adding a lab puppy next year We JUST got Kayla, and already the family is talking about another one! (of course, everyone wants another baby, too, lol). I said if we keep up with Kayla's training and socializing, we would consider a lab puppy next year, late spring. If we do this, is there some magical way to prepare Kayla (she'll be 2 1/2 at the time)? I'd really like to get her around puppies, but without knowing anyone with a puppy, that would be hard to do... Any thoughts? Thanks, Leann |

| My suggestion would be to get involved in her training. You'll meet other dogs/puppies there for her. I've found just walking at a local park has brought many friends to us. Some we've met thru the internet and some at the kennel club. I met a local friend thru another rottie board. She likes agility, but put me in touch with people who do conformation, and set me up with classes, etc. You'd be surprised! In one short year, we went from knowing only 2 Rotties and their families to 10-12! If I then add non rotties (Labs, Am Bulldog, Am Staff, Bordeaux, Dane)it would be another 6! Go for it! And enjoy your Kayla!

| This is really showing my ignorance, but what, exactly, is conformation? Leann |

| Word of caution on parks with dogs. Dog-fights can and do happen. This could have a negative impact on your girls acceptance of other dogs! Try to keep contacts in a controled non-playing enviroment. |
