| Camping.... Hi everyone..... In two weeks I'll be going out of town & Julius & Ryan are going to be going hiking & camping for a couple of days. It's a "father/son weekend." :p Julius has his Outward Hound backpack which we have been letting him wear empty on walks & hikes & he seems to be used to it. Ryan wants for Julius to carry his dog food which would be about 10 cups. There are big pockets on both sides so that would be 5 c. per side. Ryan says it weighs aprox. 4 lbs. I remember reading in other posts that they shouldn't carry anything in the backpacks until a certain age. I think until around 18 months or so. They would be doing about 3-4 hours of hiking a day. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!! :) Brooke

| This is my opinion, I would not make a 7 month old pup carry anything heavier then a dumbell or a newspaper. Also I don't know if the pup can stay cool with back pack in the heat. That may not be a problem where you are but it is a consideration here in Florida. |

| Hi Brooke&Ryan, We also have a 7mo. old girl though. I was just curious on the size of yours. Bella is 65 lbs. about, and around 17 inches at the shoulder. As far as carring a bag goes, I really don't see anything wrong with it. As long as it isn't really heavy it would be good training for other things in the future. Good luck, and thanks for any sizes! Craig & Juanita |
