| furry question My rottweiler is a 9 month old male and i am wondering why his undercoat shows through his black hair. This fur shows around his shoulders and head but nowhere else. Is this normal? I brush his coat often and his undercoat pulls onto the comb and he sheds this greyish, mahogony fur too, but not much black. please help. |

| It may be that he is still very young and will eventually get a heavier coat. When I first got Cromwell (he was 8 months old) his coat looked deep - almost blue-black. One afternoon, I was sitting on the couch and Crom was standing on his blanket with the window behind him. With the sun behind him shinning through the top hairs of his fur, I noticed this beautiful mahogny "aura" almost. The sun had picked up the red in his coat and just gave this beautiful mahogony glow. He is 6 years old now and I have noticed it lately. I will have him stand with his back to the window and see if the sun can pick up this "glow".
