I've never done it, but a friend with two Rotties was for a while when she & her hubby were working some long hours. She said her dogs adored it & came home happy & tired.

I did it for a couple of years with Soapie.
This was from 1995 - 1997, when I worked in NYC, about a 90 minute commute door to door for me. PLUS I worked long days sometimes. Anyway, I found a woman who did doggie day care out of her house, and her house was actually on my way to the train station! So I used to drop Soapie off in the morning on my way to work and then pick her up at night.
I also sometimes had to travel longer distances and then Soapie would stay overnight. It got to the point where Susan would allow me to drop Soapie off and pick her up at any time of the day or night - if it was very early or late, Susan would let me use the key she had hidden under a flowerpot or wherever.
Susan didn't have a formal facility, but she was bonded. Sometimes she had quite a few dogs, too - I remember once she had 12 (over the holidays.)
It was the best socialization imaginable for Soapie, and she made best friends with Susan's dog, Sammy.
Unfortuntaly, Susan moved about an hour away from me so it was no longer feasible to do doggie day care on a daily basis, but I still used Susan's s services for longer trips. Luckily at about the time Susan moved I started working out of my house, so it worked out okay.

I'll tell you what, if it works out, it is a great experience for your dog in socialization.
But make sure the people running the day care truly love dogs and are knowledgable. It's a gut feeling, trust it!

Pet Babysitting?

Just would like your imput on pet babysitters. Not the kind that come to your home, but has a facility that does nothing but pamper your pet while at work or vacation. Could be on a daily basis, to and from work type thing. I guess you would call it Pet Day Care. Any thought on this? Also, it would be an All Breed facility.
