home owners insurance

i am so mad i could spit. travlers insurance company just informed me that they would not insure our property because we have "viscous" dogs.

an insurance adjuster came to our house to appraise hail damage. the individual was at our house when we were not home which means that our four year old and one year old were inside the house.

what a crock. say we own a breed that they elect not to cover but do not make a judgement on our dogs behavior based on never coming in contact with them. for the record both are lovers that have basic obediance and are excellent with children.

i was planning to dump travlers for other reasons but i plan on fighting this baseless labeling of our dogs. i would welcome any suggestions for dealing with travlers and suggestions for a new insurance carrier. please help.

thanks

Dale,
State Farm Insurance is a good bet. Although I hear it can depend agent to agent. That's horrible what happened in your case. Ignorant people. Search our archives on insurance...you'll find other members experiences and thoughts.
Good luck. :)

Travlers insurance our crooks. They care nothing about people why should they care about dogs. I had them for medical insurance and I about died because they refused to pay for treatment I was in desperate need for more then once.

Run to your closest statefarm.....

We have All state, and our agent know we have Rotts, but he also breeds Akitas. He also insures our friends who have 5 dogs, and one with a bite, so it will depend on your agent. Good luck

Hello Dale-

I had the same problem with insurance. I guess unless I have a cute lil fluffy poodle I'm not worthy of insurance. I should of told the guy that I have been bitten by a poodle but never bitten by a rottweiler. He wouldn't of cared though. It's sad :(
