| Dog house I am planning construction of an insulated 6x10 outdoor house for my 2 rottweilers. A portion of it will be heated (for the winter). I am shopping for pet heaters but the ones I saw were over $100. Does anyone know if I can use a waterbed heater instead? They're alot cheaper. I hope I'm putting this in the right place |

| I know that appliances like refrigerators don't hold up very well outside in extreme temps, since the components are designed for a steadier temperature. Plus, wouldn't a waterbed heater be designed to radiate the heat through water? If you can't train your dogs to behave inside your house in extreme temeratures, I'd spring for the proper heating for them, even if it is over $100.00. If you amortise that over the life of the dogs, it's a paltry sum for their comfort, IMO.

| A waterbed heater will give off about as much heat as a lightbulb, so it will not work. Koenig |
