I have an 11 week old so here is my list:

1. Collars - Definiteyl need one for trips outside and to the vert. Use the nylon adjustable ones. They are inexpesnive and even though adjustable, you will go through them quickly.

2. Lead - buy a cheap 6 foot nylon puppy.training lead - a regular adult lead will be too heavy for the little one. The first few weeks it will be used for restraint rather than leading them anywhere

3. divider panel for crate - I am assuming that you got a wire crate? If so, you can get a crate the size the dog will be when they mature out and use the divider panel to allow your puppy to grow into it. This helps tremendously with housetraining

4. Carrier - Crates are a pain to haul around so don't do it any sooner than you have to. Also, you will need something to bring the little knucklehead home in. To make i t worth your while, start out with the 30-lb model. My pup sleeps in our room in his at night right now.

5. puppy shampoo - much gentler than adult and you will need LOTS of it...don't ask me how I know that ;)

6. Nylabone - Make sure you get him the Nylabone puppy bone for the first few weeks. Then when he is 3 months you can move him up to the Nylabone Edibles. The at 4 months you can move him up to the regular Nylabones. This is the manufacturers recommendation

7. Puppy sized treats - Old Mother Hubbard makes very nice puppy sized treats. Solid Gold also makes Tiny Tots which are very nice for puppies

8. Nail Clippers & Styptic - for the first few weeks you can user regular human nail clippers. Styptic stops the bleeding if you nick the quick.

9. Lots of towels - :D for all those baths. I actually went to WalMart and bought some cheap ones.

10. Some kind of enzymatic cleaner to clean up messes

11. Limotil - its an anti-diarreah med that you can get from your vet. My vet gives me a supply to keep around. Puppies tend to have coccidia and its helpful to have around. Also might want to ask him to put pup on course of Albin for a week when you get him home which will also clear up any worms he may have picked up again. Also, puppies tend to eat everything and sometime what they pick up does not agree with their system which can cause runnies.

Well that is all I can think of now except for the digital camera for all those pictures you are going to want to take and post to this forum.

depending upon the size of the baby an 8 week old will usually take a 9-13" adjustable collar. 1/2" width is best at this age but 3/4" will do as well

Nylon adjustabe is best, something like a 1/2 inch wide 12inch long I think. Harnesses are great also. Personally, I won't give Nylabones due to risks of choking and the fact many dogs don't like them anyway. A big raw or smoked bone is great for chewing and will last a while. Watch that leather lead, if you aren't looking for even a minute the pup can quickly chew it, much easier than nylon.

The collar that fit Mercedes at 8 weeks is now about three inches too short at 13 weeks!

Buy a halti or harness for when they are a liitle older.
