Thanks alot for your information every one, I thought I was the only person that had a rotty that grows slowly but its alright. Even if she doesn't grow another inch she will be still the center of attention.

Question about my rottys size

I have a 7 month rotty. She's a very sweet dog and she has a great temperment. She's good with everybody. I'm curious about her size though, from her head to the ground she's about 23 inches, from her back to the ground she's 16 inches. I don't know but I think she's kind of small for her age. Can you tell me if she's about right in her size and also what do you recommend as far as food. A friend of mines had told me that puppy chow is still good for age. Thank you.

Since this really isn't a breeding question, I'm moving it to General Info.

Well each dog is different but a good rule to follow On large breeds is about 10 pounds a month till they are 8 months then it slows down. I would throw the puppy chow out the window....lol. But thats me. I feed Canidae the best food I have come across. But their are several other good foods but stay away from the comercial foods. They care about makin big bucks...not your dog..... :(

You can go to animalplanet.com and many other sites to get breed standards and what is about right. But even if your dog is out of showing standards it would mean nothing more then just that, Out of Standard for breeding. But they can still accomplish much even out of standards.... :D

She sounds a little small at 16". I have a pocket rottie too, she was only 18" at 7 months, but now at a year, she's a good 23" but only 65 lbs!

That sounds on the small side to me. Mind you she'll keep growing for another year or to, albeit much more slowly as Burnsway said.

As for food, do a search in the Nutrition & Grooming forum. There have been about a gazillion threads on puppy food. Purina anything isn't your best choice, though.

Burnsway, I meant they'll keep growing for some time, like you said more slowly.

Does that make sense...

Aww heck with it, I agree with you, whatever we said! :D

My male will be 3 yrs old in August and he's only 85 lbs and about 24 inches tall - my little munchkin! People ask all the time "OH-how old is your puppy?!" and are amazed when I tell them he'll be 3 in August! He's the king of the house (or so he thinks!) even tho he's smaller than everyon here!

As they say - Size doesn't matter - it's what you DO with it that counts! :D :D
