| ISO: Rottie friendly housing in Houston area I was contacted by a couple who are being relocated to the Houston area, and they are trying to find rental properties in the Huffman - Baytown areas. So far they have been unable to find housing that will allow them to bring their 4 yo Rottie. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!! Rachel

| About 10 years ago we had a similar problem when we lost our home in hurricane Andrew. We finally had to put up 2 months rent as an additional security deposit on any damage our animals had done. What we did was find a realitor that was willing to negotiate for us in the process. Best of luck to them. |

| Some Humane societies keep a list of pet-friendly rental housing, they might try that. Best of luck to them!

| Here's a link to the Humane Society's "Pet Friendly Housing" page. Lots of info there and links to other sites where housing offered is pet friendly. http://www.hsus.org/ace/11819 Anything they can provide that helps substantiate good temperament, evidence of training and owner responsibility may be very helpful. If referral letters and contacts for vets, trainers, present neighbors, etc. in addition to any certificates awarded for activities the dog and owner have been involved in are offered to the potential landlord, it can go a long way towards acceptance. :) I hope their search is successful! |
