good exercise on rainy days

Don't you just hate those rainy days when you can't let your dog out to run off all that energy :( .

Well I've found the perfect thing for my dog.

One of those red laser beam lights. My dog loves it, chasing it all around. She just doesn't realize she can't catch it yet.
But boy oh boy does she try! Pounces around like a cat trying to get it :D . So funny!
We about died laughing at her the first time.
Great exercise for her! Panting & carrying on. She won't stop until you put it away.

The only store I found that had them was Petco for right around $7.

So, on those rainy days or even sunny days when you don't feel up to the exercise but your dog does, try it.

My miniature daschund doesn't bother with it, but my rottie loves it!

I just knew there had to be someone else out there using a laser light for play!!! :D Elijah's favorite game is what I call "You got it!" Every night I turn out the lights in the kitchen and Elijah chases the laser light-pounces on it, goes in circles-it is soooo funny! I incorporated a little obedience into the game by having him do a down/stay right in the middle of playing. While he is in the down/stay I run the laser light on the floor in front of him, across his paws, etc. As soon as I say "OK" he goes back to chasing the light! When I decide to end the game, I wait til he pounces on the light and say "You got it!" He just loves this! I have done it with a flashlight too, but the problem with that can be when we lose power during storms-he will chase the flashlight as u try to walk across the room!!!! :D :D :D

My husband did this with Mac. My son thought it was cruel until he saw how much Mac enjoys it. Mac would start looking for it as soon as my husband would put a hand in his pocket cause he knew thats where it came from. My husband thought this was great fun too until he saw how fast he was running thru the batteries and how expensive they were. So lazer play is limited now. He needs it for work and was wearing it out playing with Mac.

Luke pounces around like he was part cat!
LOL :) :D ;) (I try not to "tease" him with it, but the sneak in me just can't help an occassional "get it, get it, get it" game!

Sashs love that laser light. Now that it is warming up, I take her in the back yard and let her chase if for about 10 minutes before bed time. It really wears her out since she is running full speed.
