best collar for coat

I'm not sure where I should post this but . . . I recently acquired an 8 month old puppy (rott of course), that I am going to show in conformation. She has a correct straight coat, but since I put a flat buckle type collar on her, the hair under the collar has a wave to it. Does anyone have any ideas as to what type of everyday collar I can leave on her that won't damage or wave the hair underneath? I would hate to leave her without a collar and tags (she is getting a microchip Monday). Thank You, Susan

I think any collar that you use is going to cause a bit of a wave. A rolled leather collar should give you the best result and be safest. When you give her that pre-show bath, dry that area carefully as you comb it straight with a fine toothed metal comb. Some Rotties get a little shaggy around that area and you may need to use thinning shears to mellow it out. Do any major trimming at least 2-3 weeks before the show, however.

You can find really nice rolled leather collars here:Moriah Company

I buy all my equipment from this lady. She makes everything by hand and it is gorgeous.
